Bought Ride the Lightning today. Black and ...And Justice For All were there as well, but Black is apparently not great and I'd heard nothing about And Justice for All. So I went with Ride the Lightning :v:
Nice choice, Ride the Lightning is my favourite 'Tallica album.
Some Kind Of Monster is a very interesting documentary. It shows how fucked things were within the band at that point. Quite frankly, any other band would have weakened and split. They worked out so many things about that time, they even got Dave in to talk about the troubles they had. There was nothing egotistical about any of them when they were with that counsellor. They were all friends.
I need to watch the Death Magnetic documentary some time.
But when they weren't with the councilor James and Lars seemed to be at each other's throats alot. And then there was Lars' whole "fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!!!" thing. I'm pretty sure the councilor was around for that.

Yeah but i mean the band as a whole was pretty fucked, James was an alcoholic, they had a long time member leave the band, they were trying to write an album, it was a tough time.
The councillor was pretty awesome imo, i mean he stayed on a little longer than they wanted, but i think he did alot of good.
Lars doing that "fuck!" thing was genuinely uncomfortable for me to watch, i really respect Lars and James and i was just thinking "you are acting like fucking 10 year olds".
i dig their misfits covers

I've been trying to get into Metallica again lately, but I find it bland now
ride the lightning was insane when I was younger though

I remember actually watching that concert on tv 2 months ago, the part with Tom Morello was good too.
I'm listening too "That Was Just Your Life" from Death Magnetic.
I liked Death Magnetic.

I think he says he likes it now, and he liked it when he first heard it. Not that he doesn't like it anymore.
But if that is the case, you shall die.
I like DM, however. I want another Master of Puppets-esque album. The instrumental wasn't too great on DM and all the songs, whilst awesome, are very new. There's no old school songs anymore. :(

"King Nothing" is my favorite song of theirs.
The Struggle Within has stood out for me the past two weeks, I never usually listened to it, but after hearing it a few times it's grown on me.

I love the riff at 2:57, it's so awesome.
Everyone seems to dislike Load, ReLoad and St. Anger but I think Load and ReLoad has some of their best songs in their own way.
Outlaw Torn is amazing, as is Bleeding Me.
S&M versions aswell.

Load had some awesome songs, but I really didn't like ReLoad. Too much like the stuff I hated from Load.
St. Anger...well the only song I like from that is The Unnamed Feeling, the rest I fucking despise.
And Metallica is one of my favorite bands ever, so for me to despise something they have done is saying alot.

I can't say there's a song I don't like.
I sort of liked St. Anger.
I sort of liked St. Anger.
Same.
i have to be in the right mood to enjoy st anger (apart from unnamed feeling, that song is p.cool)
i dunno what mood that is, though
also my favourite metallica song at the moment is shortest straw

the riff at the beginning + in the chorus is one of my favourite riffs ever
none of the tabs i can find are right though. i found one that sounds very similar but i dont think thats how kirk plays it

It's okay, not great but neither is death magnetic.

The Shortest Straw is so fucking fun to play on guitar.
It's really easy to get the rhythm down but it just sounds so cool. I really loved Justice, it was such an amazing album. Still one of my favorites of all time.
I think the Unnamed feeling is one of the songs that most people like from St.Anger.
Like I said in the last thread though, i converted like 8 people to St.Anger. Just sit in you room, put the album on, and listen, all the way through. It's fucking awesome. I did this recently with SOAD's Toxicity album, because my friend wanted to, and it really is awesome.
I plan on doing Master all the way through again soon.

it is at that
with my limited guitar skill, some parts are hard, but i can just play it forever because it's really fun to play
justice is probably my favourite metallica album
