They recruited him after hearing him warm up. McGovney quit because of Mustaine And btw wasnt Ron in metallica before Dave ? Cause I know James had known him for a longer time than that
Yeah he was, but James thought Ron "followed" and didn't really add anything musically, i think Lars and Dave felt the same too, and James and Lars wanted Cliff to join aswell.
I think I just shat my pants, I saw that there were more tickets going on sale for Metallica shows, fuckfuckingyeah. too bad that Lamb of God are only in Syd, would've been epic to have the two playing together in Melbourne. [editline]09:00PM[/editline] Also, a question, there's only prices for adult tickets available, does that mean Minors can't attend, or do they have to pay adult price?
probably means you have to be over 18 to buy them
probably means you have to be over 18 to buy them
Heh...usually here in New York it means anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Regardless I couldn't give a fuck less I'm 20 and always have my ID on me but that's how the tickets are usually printed (as 16+).
Fuuuuuu-
I'm 16 and I'm going with my brother whose 17.

3 days to go, so excited.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Feet_Down_Under Awesome, some live stuff recorded here!
Meh, Metallica usually doesn't sound that well on live recordings. Don't know why. I think it might be that the bass is hard to record live, which messes up Metallica a lot more than most bands. With the exception of S&M, of course.

Eb minor is the best key ever so fuck yaaaaall
Eb minor is the best key ever so fuck yaaaaall
I meant they tune to Eb-standard on their guitars. Like...half-step down.
and lars can't drum anymore, not the faster songs anyway. Not trolling. He just can't. Hire Portnoy now he's left dream theater
and lars can't drum anymore, not the faster songs anyway. Not trolling. He just can't. Hire Portnoy now he's left dream theater
He joined Avenged Sevenfold ;__;
He joined Avenged Sevenfold ;__;
He didn't. I know he was covering for their tour but i don't think he has "joined" them. Lots of DT fans are hating on A7x for "stealing their drummer". Lol, well maybe if the other guys in DT were more receptive to Portnoy needing a break, and instead telling him to leave the band, maybe he wouldn't have left. I'd take Lombardo from Slayer anyday, but i don't think he would fit Metallica's less thrash elements these days.
Mike only joined A7x because him and the Rev were close friends really. And Mike hasn't 'left' DT either. He's just on a haitus, I guess you could say. He said he's just taking a break and will rejoin at some point.
I meant they tune to Eb-standard on their guitars. This is Lars' best drum performance for a long time (Nimes 2009), he did not play that anywhere near the records standard. No doubles in the verse at all. Just hat snare kick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiVh-cSgRVE Last time he played it properly was Calgary and apparently he played very few songs with double bass. I'm not hating on him but i just think they should stop playing these songs when he obviously cannot do it. The songs sound so bad compared without the doubles.
Yeah, but then again, most bands sound worse live, not just Metallica. Only exception I've found is Iron Maiden, where the studio versions are too cleaned up, and you need the live ones to hear any distortion or noise.

The hi-hat speed on that song is still pretty incredible, same with fight fire with fire, etc. Also he plays fight fire with fire with double bass all the time and it sounds fine

He plays Fight rarely, and played it with double bass for a Pro Shot event. Normal sets he doesn't crack out the DB and i'm cool with that but alot of people defend him like crazy. He is very selective about using his db's and isn't cracked up for the intesity of some songs any more, but i still love him <3
I've never seen him without double bass set up if that's what you're saying. I dunno, he's fine in terms of drumming. Even if his legs aren't in tip top shape his arms are as fast as ever.

yeah I figured thanks for answering for him
If we're talking about members who have got worse you surely cannot overlook Hammett. He just seems to get sloppier and sloppier. It's infuriating hearing Hetfield playing tight as a duck's ass on say Creeping Death, then hearing Hammett just fuck it up all the damn time
He's just on a haitus, I guess you could say. He said he's just taking a break and will rejoin at some point.
That is what Phil Anselmo said and now we have no Dime ;-;

Hetfield, particularly in a song like creeping death, puts off playing tight for stage antics, which is fine with me. Kirk's solos aren't getting any cleaner but his rhythm is as good as ever.
That is what Phil Anselmo said and now we have no Dime ;-;
Yeah except Dimebag was shot in the head numerous times. Mike Portnoy just wants to do side projects. I'm sure he'd like to rejoin at some point, as he's even said himself, but MY fear is that there won't be a band to return to.
i used to only listen to metallica for like 5-6 years, now i just can't listen to them for more than one song =/
That is what Phil Anselmo said and now we have no Dime ;-;
The only ones responsible for destroying Pantera was Nathan Gale and his retarded mother, period.
