I'm about halfway through it now, it's better than I expected.
Yes, Lou's vocals are hideous in places, but in others it just works. For example, towards the end of Pumping Blood the vocals get more and more agitated, and it sounds great.

I'm actually very surprised that I've made it this far. I've kind of listened to the vocals now and it doesn't seem to annoy me as much as i thought it would do from the previews.
It's actually kind of cool. Metallica are good, Lars uses way too much crash though, and there are hardly any solos, but i'm impressed. It's surpassed my expectations, and in places is actually ok.
It's a 7/10 so far.
Cool riff at 6:28 in Frustraion. Wish some of the riffs could be on the [B]actual[/B] Metallica record. Hope James's has saved some good ones!
Well, listened to Lulu in it's entierety too. And serisously guys, stop. It's not "a disaster". Heck, it's even good in some parts. 7/10 for me too.

As for me, it's an easy pick : Junior Dad. Fuck me, I can relate so much.
Heh, the ambient outro on Junior Dad is about 10 minutes long
I think my favourite song is either The View or Iced Honey. That being said, Junior Dad is good too and Mistress Dread would be good if it weren't for the fact is was so repetitive.

frustration has a really cool intro riff. Wish it had more of those moments though.

and yeah, after listening to the album in its entirety...it's not that bad. the vocals kind of become part of the whole experience, and there are some great thrash riffs that show possible hints of the metallica album to come. my biggest problem is that it gets really fucking repetitive at some points

the lyrics on lulu are incoherent, poorly delivered, and silly
that's another problem with the record, at points it feels like an old beatnik reciting his poetry over metallica riffs

They know that most people will either download it when it's leaked (which it already has) or just download it after release, so they're giving people an official place to listen to it first. IIRC Foo Fighters and Mastodon did it with their most recent albums.

The vocals, repetitiveness, and the awfully long tracks ruined it. It's not that I don't like long songs, but when the are the previously mentioned, they suck.

it would just be a blank Memorex Disc
I would do the same. Release a double album, pack the first to full length then just have 1 song on the 2nd one.
Band I know called Naked Shit released a 83 minute ambient black metal track, specifically made that length so it just couldn't fit on a CD
