Nobody wants it why the hell would it be snuck in, and at the current state all its going to block is back down to child porn and blocking ip's has never slowed the internet so personally i don't care about that
I don't know. If the ALP feel so strongly about introducing a filter for Australian's, then they can (as in they have the capacity to do so). I'm not saying it's right.
Thankfully a lot more people wisened up and preferred The Greens before the other major parties, the censorship bill will not pass through the Senate.
Thankfully people wisened up and preferred The Greens before the other major parties, the censorship bill will not pass through the Senate.
The Greens don't yet have BoP in The Senate. And wisened up and voted Greens? I wouldn't be so sure that they were wise in voting Greens.
The Greens don't yet have BoP in The Senate. And wisened up and voted Greens? I wouldn't be so sure that they were wise in voting Greens.
The Coalition and the The Greens publicly state that they oppose the filter scheme.
Why were they not wise in voting in some power for greens? What policies are you against? It was a direct response too the labor party going more right wing for votes (which backfired), and the use of horrible tactics such as boat people scares which as a result was inciting racism and ignorance of the truth about immigration. Its hardly surprising that all this triggered a vote for a party that was honest and fair about important issues.
The Coalition and the The Greens publicly state that they oppose the filter scheme.
And? The Greens don't have the BoP in the Senate yet. [editline]20th October 2010[/editline]
Why were they not wise in voting in some power for greens?
One of the main problems this time is that we're likely to see a stagnant Parliament. With them holding the balance of power in the next Senate, and having some decent power in the HoR - it's not going to be good for the progression of Australia.
What policies are you against?
Their large reliance on renewable energy for instance. While they're not for the outright abolishion of non-renewable energy sources, renewable sources aren't currently efficient enough to power Australia. There are also other policies, such as some of their economic ones, but it's not the right time to go into it.
It was a direct response too the labor party going more right wing for votes (which backfired), and the use of horrible tactics such as boat people scares which as a result was inciting racism and ignorance of the truth about immigration. If there was a shift away from libs they wouldn't have gained seats, people don't just from right wing to far left wing on a whim. The policy you gave as an example is a weak one, the actual work they'll be doing should be largely positive and they won't ever become a main enough party to push a massive shift of energy sources plus the logic in what you said didn't make much sense. For example trying to stop treating refugees like criminals, better care for old people and pushing for some kind of environmental action.
If there was a shift away from libs they wouldn't have gained seats, people don't just from right wing to far left wing on a whim.
http://vtr.aec.gov.au/HouseStateFirstPrefsByParty-15508-NAT.htm The Liberals received about a 0.75% average swing in FP towards them, and considering the number of seats the Coalition won, there wasn't much of a serious swing to them, however there was a 4% swing towards The Greens. I guess it wasn't a swing against the Liberals, but you'd think if there was a major decrease in support for one party, there would be a major increase in support for the other - this is not the case, as it historically has been in Australian politics.
so basically you said what i said but in a longwinded way
If you believe so. It shows more that voters were disgruntled with both parties rather than voting Greens because they wanted to.
It's because you have to import everything...
America imports everything too.
Buy on eBay. Ship to Australia. End up paying around $70 for a semi-new game.
If you believe so. It shows more that voters were disgruntled with both parties rather than voting Greens because they wanted to.
not really it just shows you're guessing the opinions backing swing voters with no real proof of what they were thinking
Move to USA and issue solved....
yeah because going to that backward shithole having a massive economic crisis is better than paying a tiny bit more money for games
yeah because going to that backward shithole having a massive economic crisis is better than paying a tiny bit more money for games
please don't turn this into a "my country is better than yours" thread. Every country has its pros and cons.
A warning vote over the filter? Are you kidding yourself? The Greens got more of the vote this time due to people swinging away from both major parties. Nothing more than that. Australia does not revolve around the internet, I hate to tell you.
The issue of internet censorship is NOT an issue of the internet, surprisingly. You might not have guessed it but there is opposition to it because no matter what it does, it infringes on our rights as a democratic and free country. There's a lot of opposition.
Australia is its own continent that makes almost none of its own goods. almost everything is imported, and you have very little exports to even it out. as such, you are paying extremely high prices to be able to keep importing more goods.
Sometimes I wish I had the extra cash to buy some of my aussie friends games, knowing they have to pay WAY more than I would.
Sometimes I wish I had the extra cash to buy some of my aussie friends games, knowing they have to pay WAY more than I would.
Rated hearts. :)
The fuck. I'm moving to Australia fuck this country.
Plumbing makes big money everywhere. Canada, $250 charged for a half hour job. 20% commission alone = $100/hour. Oh, and that was to unclog a drain full of sugar (At my work).
please don't turn this into a "my country is better than yours" thread. Every country has its pros and cons.
why would you quote me and say that not the person who started the argument [editline]20th October 2010[/editline]
Australia is its own continent that makes almost none of its own goods. almost everything is imported, and you have very little exports to even it out. as such, you are paying extremely high prices to be able to keep importing more goods.
I keep seeing this dumb repeated post over and over. Hi people, have you ever heard of china? Well guess who they get their resources from to make all the goods we all use.
the tax is so you can pay back all the people youve stole from
its because people voted labour AGAIN
most people voted independent and liberal. [editline]20th October 2010[/editline]
They only ever have "Looking for people" up if you have a vagina though. [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] It was 70c last year, it's been going between 80 - 90c all year.
I saw the last position at the local one get filled as I walked out of the store having just been denied for age reasons. The lucky kid was a girl, who happens to be born in the same year as me. Fucking raged, I went back in and asked stupid questions and trolled them so obviously until closing time an hour later.
It's because you have to import everything...
I'm not an expert on economics, but aren't things usually cheaper in bulk? If that's the case, why is it cheaper to import a single item from overseas than it is to buy it retail here?
Island full of convicts, that's the problem
The issue of internet censorship is NOT an issue of the internet, surprisingly. You might not have guessed it but there is opposition to it because no matter what it does, it infringes on our rights as a democratic and free country. There's a lot of opposition.
Infringes on what rights in particular. As I said, Australia does not revolve around the internet, so an issue of internet censorship isn't exactly relevant to many Aussies.
not really it just shows you're guessing the opinions backing swing voters with no real proof of what they were thinking
Then I guess we can draw no assumptions - meaning, we can't say that Labor's policies backfired on them - because we don't know what the voters were thinking. [editline]20th October 2010[/editline]
most people voted independent and liberal.
If you want to look at it that way, most people voted Labor and Greens.
Guys I will share my plan. i'm going to medical school, but you can apply this to whatever. Get degree, buy shit house cheap Get contact overseas, pay someone to renovate your house, make money overseas, come back to aus in 8 months or when the contract ends. Wait until you have owned the house for at least a year Sell house Repeat
Its hilarious how people are blaming this on labor, because they were the ones who made GST right??? I forgot how the economy runs totally better under liberal and how that has nothing at all to do with global recessions.
If you want to look at it that way, most people voted Labor and Greens.
No, most voted independent and liberal, then the independents fucked up
