Content Divided: Death To Pre-Order Culture - Jim Sterling

I've only preordered twice, for Duke Nukem Forever and Wolfesntein The New Order. I cancelled my preorder for Duke when it got delayed again. I'm glad I did because a year or two later I picked it up for $5 and I was so glad I waited.
I only preordered Wolfenstein because I watched Bethesda's livestreams. I probably would of preordered Undertale if it was an option but the only way to "preorder" it would of been to back it on Kickstarter.
Wierd that he didn't mention the fallout 4 Pipboy edition
normally i can somewhat justify a pre-order for collector's editions, since they tend to come with limited runs of game merchandise and/or cool knick-knacks for the average fan. those actually take time and effort to design, manufacture, and ship out with the item.
not for digital content skins/guns/etc like these though; this is purely content they cut for making "pre-order bonuses"
I don't even care about collector's editions if the game ends up shit. I tend to stay away from stuff like that, and paying more for a game is definitely something I am not willing to do if it is something I wouldn't know if it is good or not.
I don't preorder a lot but I preordered the pipboy edition of fallout 4 because it's my absolute favorite game series and I just really wanted something collectible for a franchise i really love (even if it's a shitty gimmick)
