Yes guys, this is either an Easter Egg or Bethesda sucks at making games. Why the fuck would the developers put in a unique, enchanted notched pickaxe in some remote area? There is absolutely no reason that pickaxe should be there versus a normal pickaxe.
Unless there is another notched pickaxe somewhere else in the world, there is absolutely no doubt this is a reference.

A remote area? It's the top of a mountain. Players want some sort of reward for climbing up it.

It's an unique pickaxe, of course you won't find it anywhere else.
Why do you think that would completely prove that it's a reference? Heck, it might've been put there before Minecraft even became popular.
it's definitely a minecraft reference, it makes no fucking sense to call a pickaxe "notched" otherwise, don't be dumb

It's not a minecraft reference. Go look up what a Notch is. Daggerfall had Notched Arrows.

A unique pickaxe isn't a reward.
So tell me why was it put there instead of a regular pickaxe?

Just because it's not a reward to you doesn't mean it isn't to others. It's so you can say you climbed a mountain and got something worthwhile - a special item you can't get anywhere else. There are also enchanted versions of other 'useless' weapons.
Hardly anyone seems to knows what a Notch is and understands something having a Notch does not mean it's a Minecraft reference. Saw's have Notches. Daggerfall has Notched Arrows. Notched Hammers exist aswell. It's a tool. It has a purpose, it is not out of place.

Not at the top of a mountain near a bunch of ore. Again, unless there is another notched pickaxe somewhere else in the world, this is an easter egg. That, or the developers of Skyrim were pretty dumb.

No. Using that Logic things such as:
Headsman’s Axe
Woodsmans Friend
Poachers axe
Ceremonial Axe
The Longhammer
Dragonbane
And all the other unique weapons in the game are Easter Eggs. Naming something after a real thing does not make them dumb. It being on top of a mountain is irrelevent.
Minecraft. Notice "mine" and "craft".
Notched pickaxe. A pickaxe that is used to mine but has also bonus to crafting (at the smith). Plus "Notch" in the name.
That would have to be some astronomical coincidence.

All those other items have abstract names. If notched pickaxe was to be put in the same category it would need to be abstract as well, making it's name an easter egg.

Saying it is a coincidence is an insult to the Skyrim developers. It is basically calling them flat out retarded.
i came in the thread expecting an ingame steve figure or a creeper or some shit
what i found was wishful thinking
The pickaxes are usually near ore. And considering there are unique woodcutting axes and things they would obviously do a pickaxe one aswell. The enchanted woodcutting axes all have unique names aren't a reference to anything so why would this be just because it has Notched in it's name? It's not like that word was invented by minecraft or doesn't make sense on it.
I think the thing on some hammers used for pulling nails out is a notch.
While this is true, I can't possibly imagine that this was just some huge coincidence. Not only is Notch a fairly well known guy, being the creator of an extremely popular game, but he has also stated that he's a massive elder scrolls fan on multiple occasions, he did a one-on-one interview with Todd Howard, and even when their legal department wanted to SUE MOJANG, he made a point of saying that he didn't have any hard feelings with Bethesda, that they were still one of his favorite developers, and that the development team had nothing to do with the ordeal.
Now we discover a unique pickaxe in their game, the iconic tool of minecraft, named "Notched Pickaxe."
There's no way in hell that's a coincidence to me.
That is not really a Minecraft reference. A Notch is a V-shaped indentation so it makes sense.
Yeah, but it's not notched.
That is not really a Minecraft reference. A Notch is a V-shaped indentation so it makes sense.
Here's the thing
You claim that tools spawn near where they are often required, and i agree that they do
However, you have to take note that Minecraft's whole essence is based around, well you know, mining, and the pickaxe is iconic of the game itself.
Furthermore, you state that a notch is a v-shaped indentation yet in the video it clearly shows a lack of such indentations:

Additionally, it was a well-known fact that Bethesda(or rather, their publisher) and Notch(creator of Minecraft, in case you weren't aware) had some friction going on due to the use of the name "Scrolls" in both of their games.
Would it not be fair to say that Bethesda would raise Notch a small token of acknowledgement of his success by including his presence in their game as a superior and unique pickaxe?
You also argue this:
No. Using that Logic things such as:

Dragonbane

Two flaws I find with that is that the names you have listed are very common names granted to superior items in fantasy games, and can be easily attributed to the fact that they are more powerful. I also find a lack of reference in any of those names to popular culture.
Second, why would it be irrelevant to be on the top of a mountain? Like you said, a player expects a reward for doing something so tedious and it would make sense for there to be a unique pickaxe that accompanies the rare ores. However, why would Bethesda miss the opportunity to not only reward the player but also to make a shout-out to Notch? They could have named it any other generic name, such as "Miner's Best Friend" or some other symbolic fantasy name.
Too many clues point to reasons as to why it would be a reference, and not enough evidence suggests that it is pure coincidence.
