He just cut out some nice shapes with the shape tool, added a texture on that and used some layers on top of that to shade it.

a thread should not die because it is old. It should die because it is boring and no one wants to post anymore.

a contest I made lasted three years, and has been revived with two new versions this past week. Keeping something worth editing around is a godsend when all else is boring, so lighten up a bit and let others have their fun.
