There will be more people coming to watch world cup than Qatar's population. :v: Oh and BBC News is flooded with News about how SAD ENGLAND IS.
Buttfucking in public? Yes Bibles are banned from import? No.
Actually, any "homosexual activity" in public is illegal, according to your criminal code. What all does that include?
Actually, any "homosexual activity" in public is illegal, according to your criminal code. What all does that include?
Jesus christ man. Gay people don't go around smacking lips, or participating in a pride parade all the time. They'll be fine. Most gays aren't even flamboyant, so you probably won't be able to tell. Although I hope Rosie O'Donnell goes and they do something. That'd be nice because she's annoying.
You're right, there are. In Qatar. Listen, fuck a guy or a girl; just keep it out of the eye of the public and no one asks questions. Sure it may not be the ideal environment but America really isn't any different. You have people like Westboro, you have people who don't care and you have people who support them. Qatar's just the same, only all 3 sides agree that fucking in public isn't cool.
I'm not saying USA is the greatest and most tolerant nation on earth, but imagine USA with WBC making the laws. People would be upset, even if the laws wouldn't be put to use because they'd be discriminating.
Doesn't seem like it if you keep complaining about it like it affects you directly.
Does it matter if it affects me directly? Shouldn't I complain just out of common courtesy?
It is wrong, yes, but people are still going to do it, especially when they've been taught their whole lives to believe they're the ones who are doing the "right" thing. (That's one of the reasons it was so hard for me to accept myself for being gay. I've been told over and over by my parents, who are pretty religious Mulsims, that homosexuality is wrong, and homosexuals are better off dead, etc. And it's EXTREMELY HARD to argue with those kind of people. They would never accept it if those laws magically disappeared.)
They can still keep their homophobic opinions, just don't go out and discriminate anyone for it.
The way you've been posting is what made everyone do that.
It's nice to know that everyone jumps me because of 'the way I post' instead of what I'm actually saying :)
To people judging harshly on the homosexuality laws, keep in mind there were (and still may be) active sodomy laws on the books in the US from as recently as 2003, such as the one struck down in Lawrence v. Texas And while that did get struck down, it got struck down in 2003, not 1903. We're not as advanced as we'd like to think at times.
you don't recognize israel but you're allowing israel to come, so what do you call them? "hey you jews over there yea you guys can come"
No, we'll call them the Israeli national football team. What all does that include?
I've seen gay couples hold hands in public, I'm guessing a kiss on the lips would qualify as 'homosexual activity' - or for the millionth time a public display of affection. Any 'heterosexual activity' is just as frowned upon in terms of being in public.
So by this logic USA shouldn't have hosted the World Cup either because gay marriage isn't legal in all 50 states; and because these laws are targeting homosexuals no international event should be held there. Yeah, no.
I'm sure it's going to be exactly like Tunisia, but richer. When I went to Tunisia, there was alcohol on sale, and you weren't going to get arrested for minor infringements of rules, yes sexual activities between non-married couples is illegal, but that's just respecting the culture. My only problem when I went to Tunisia was it felt a bit like a 2nd world country.

Yeah, no.
Yeah, yes. Or at least not in a state where it's not allowed.
Why all the hate? It seems like most of the posters in this thread are incredibly ignorant and refuse to believe that a middle-eastern country isn't what they have been taught by the media. I think it is excellent that Qatar will get to host the World Cup, I hope that it's economic success spreads to neighbouring countries.
^ Thanks for having some common sense. :D
I passed through Qatar once on the way to Nepal/India and it seemed okay. Actually, none of the things in this thread bother me. It's just the fact it was really boring. It was just lots of rich people, heat and sand.
brilliant op, thank you for educating people!
This, which Dr_Funk seems so worried about is extremely unlikely (I’d like to say it won’t happen). As for the weather, right, so you’re assuming that the climate-controlled stadium will by chance, just malfunction during the World Cup? Now you’re just looking for excuses and grasping at straws. As for the alcohol, I already posted it:
- Based on what. The logic's plain to see. - Because this one estimate of stadium temperatures is obviously right, despite other conflicting versions? And that this will also apply to /outside the stadiums/ where people will obviously be?
Yes it is. If you're drunk in the street and you meet the cops, you'll go to jail for a few hours.
I can assure you that's not the case at all.
