Tradition (or religion) goes that you should give 10% of total income to God (the church), and He will give you so much more. My whole family does it - and we have more than enough money. You don't HAVE to do it. If you are seriously troubled with money, complain diplomatically. Please don't try to convert me to atheistinity :holy:

It's good to give like $5 to the church each sunday, but 100 each month is overkill, especially since you guys aren't doing so well financially

Let me get this straight. You went creeping through your mothers transaction history off of some stupid suspicion that she may or may not be "wasting" money and you call her a dipshit for it? Grow up. If she wants to spend her money on tithing, let her spend it on tithing. If you feel she's wasting money, then bring it out and say you think she's wasting money. Don't stop and ask an internet forum full of sixteen year olds what you should do. You should already know yourself. After all, if you vehemently believe it's a waste, then you already have your answer and don't need to make a thread about it in the first place. I don't feel like reading through ten pages of thread, but from what I've skimmed through it seems like you think this really is a bad idea. Your family has financial issues. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, your mother may think that this tithing is a means of getting good luck? I know it sounds stupid and crazy and illogical, but put your own views aside for just a minute and quit being so narrow minded. People have their own means of doing things like this. Some people pray, some sit by and hope for the best. Others don't particularly care either way and just go with the natural flow of their life. And some people give money to churches. All because they think it brings them good things in life. It's the same reason people pray. It's the same reason atheists put faith in whatever it is they put faith in. We all have our own means of coping with life's problems. Just be glad she isn't getting drunk or spending all of her money on cocaine. When it comes down to it everybody is different. So if it really bothers you so much that you had to make a thread about it on an internet forum full of sixteen year olds, then I think you're a dipshit because you already had all the information you needed to reach a "logical" conclusion on your part.

It's abit overkill but then again it is her money. I'd advise a talk but you have to see where she is coming from too. Maybe just tell dad and let him proceed on the matter.
