No, because as long as her husband is fine with it, nothing is wrong. If it makes her happy, there's really no problem. Also, in one of my schools, they actually gave a significant tuition discount if you gave the 10% to the Church.
If your school is in the USA, then that sounds very odd unless the school is private. If it's not private, then I thought that the USA was founded upon the separation of state and church.
In Islam you give 2% of your yearly income to the poor if you're financially able to. So if she was Muslim your family would have a salary of about $93,000 dollars which is probably not the case since you're in financial trouble.
Is the church a good church or one of those churches that teaches intolerance, creationism, etc.? Even then it's still not a good idea to donate to a church when you yourself are the one in need of aid.

we have the pledge in school and in god we trust on our money. separation of church and state is... strained, at best.

Also, why the hell would anyone in their right mind blackmail their parent(s) for video games when their family already is in financial debt?
ACT 2: JOHNBOOTH BLACKMAILS HIS MOTHER
scene: KITCHEN
Johnbooth: Mother...I have something to show you, please sit down.
JOHNBOOTH GESTURES TO AN AWAITING CHAIR
Johnbooth's Mom: Son, I don't have time for your sonic fanfiction, I've had a long day...
JOHNBOOTH'S MOM GLANCES NERVOUSLY AT HER SON, EYES FLICKING TO THE CHAIR BRIEFLY.
Johnbooth: As you know, mother, I have come to expect a certain standard of living. All the mountain dew I could drink and the very latest in call of duties. Please, I would not waste your time for a petty matter, sit.
JOHNBOOTH GESTURES MORE FORECEFULLY TO THE CHAIR, BUT FAILS TO MAKE EYE CONTACT, AS HE IS AUTISTIC. JOHNBOOTH'S MOM LETS OUT A QUIET SIGH, AND TAKES A SEAT.
Johnbooth: As you can see, I have set out your finances in front of you... I was taking a quick glance through them, as any creepy son would do. I was wondering if you could help me...'understand' some discrepancies.
JOHNBOOTH'S MOM BEGINS TO VISIBLY SWEAT, HER HANDS CLENCHED TIGHTLY IN HER LAP TO STOP THEM SHAKING.
Johnbooth's Mom: W-what...what are you talking about dear? Didn't you get your allowance.
Johnbooth: IT IS NOT MY PALTRY ALLOWANCE THAT YOU NEED TO CONCERN YOURSELF WITH MADAM, BUT THESE!
JOHNBOOTH STABS AT THE VARIOUS DONATIONS WITH HIS SHORT, STUBBY FINGERS. HIS MOTHER'S EYES GO WIDE WITH FRIGHT
Johnbooth's Mom: W-wh- How did you...it's not what you think Johnbooth, I can explai-
Johnbooth: CAN YOU REALLY MOTHER? REALLY? AS A DEVOUT ATHEIST MYSELF, I DO NOT THINK IT IS TRULY POSSIBLE TO RATIONALLY EXPLAIN YOUR MONETARY FOLLY.
JOHNBOOTH'S MOTHER'S EYES FALL, DEFEATED SHE STARES AT THE TABLETOP.
Johnbooth's Mom: Please don't tell on me son, you know that my boss will fire me if he learns I've been giving 10% of my earnings to other people...it's against his non-beliefs....
JOHNBOOTH SEEMS TO BE FILLED WITH TRIUMPHANT ENERGY, YET HE CONTROLS HIMSELF, SHIFTING INTO A POSE OF MOCKING CONCERN, LEANING IN TOWARDS HIS POOR, DISHEVELLED MOTHER.
Johnbooth: Well mother dear, you know what can make this little problem dissapear, don't you?
Johnbooth's Mom: W-what's that?
Johnbooth: PS3, bitch.
I thought that the USA was founded upon the separation of state and church.
It was until the conservatives started trying to alter history.

<Catholic facepalm> You are supposed to Tith if you don't need the money. If you are in financial trouble some of the Tith money might go to you.
well we know your moms stupid, try to get her to be less and then the problem could be solved

I don't know much about how the schooling and education system works in the USA. From the first amendment and the separation of state and church, I would be somewhat surprised if this was really the case since it already has a major impact on schooling.
well we do
I know. But I don't know the extent of it.
It's her money, she earns it not you so she can do what she wants with it.
That's just the way it works, unless you want to believe you deserve more than your house over your head, your mouth being fed, being born, etc...
your internet right now is being payed for by them most likely.
mom how dare you donate money to a church!!!
It's her money, she earns it not you so she can do what she wants with it.

well the husband should have a say in it. and i would say just because its her money doesnt mean no one can try to give her some logic in her money spending
yeah christianity isn't a scam at all
Anyone who actually disagrees with this can't do simple math.
200 x 10 = 2000. 2000 x 12 = 24000 a year. Remove the money paid to the church and that's 21600 a year on the Mom's income. Which is jack shit. Yeah the Dad is probably making money, but it still doesn't change the fact that's a small income.
For reference, if you spend 10 dollars per person on food a day in a family of 4. It costs 14600 dollars to feed them anually, yeah.
well the husband should have a say in it. and i would say just because its her money doesnt mean no one can try to give her some logic in her money spending
because a son who does nothing to earn money has any say in this. /sarcasm
because a son who does nothing to earn money has any say in this. /sarcasm
first off i said husband so i think he should tell him and also i think that he should atleast give her mom some sense
ps if i saw that my friend was catching his money on fire i would tell him to stop
That's fucking dumb from her side.
If you donate, atleast donate to just cause, not these fucking churches that do no good
Update on the situation pweese?

either way it will affect his mother's spending
from her own money
so yes in the long run it will be his fault and like i said 'because a son totally has say in how his mom should spend /sarcasm'

hes just trying to help his mom from wasting her money and i dont see a problem with that
ps when did i say that i wanted ops mom to buy and send me a videogame?
hes just trying to help his mom from wasting her money and i dont see a problem with that
There is a problem
OP want's her to stop spending so he can gain from their money, if you want to decide how to spend money, work towards it yourself.
There is a problem

OP didn't say he wants to gain from their money.
Is there some kind of stupidity gene that runs in the Gold Member race that they exploit because they don't get banned?

well im saying he should stop his mom from being brainwashed into giving money to a place that will waste her money

hey you know that if you couldnt get banned you would be doing all kinds of stupid things
Donations are tax deductible... So she probably gets most of that money back from the government if she does her taxes correctly.
She only earns $500 back, when she pays upward of $1500
I'm atheist, and I can understand paying towards a good cause. $50 a month to your church sounds reasonable, but $200 a month?! That's ridiculous. A family of 3 can eat of that for a month. I think you should talk to your mom, if you already haven't.

They are in a financial crisis...he's not allowed to advise her to stop wasting money on stupid bullshit?
