I think I actually will have to agree with McGii that most of those things aren't misandry, although I don't strictly believe they are misogyny either. It being socially less acceptable for men to wear women's clothes, when it's considered discriminating to have males only groups but nobody bat an eyelid over female only groups, when being a virgin makes you a loser if you're a guy, are double standards that exist because they are enforced pretty much by both genders alike.
Though I don't believe that these things are directly misandry, I still feel that they are problems that should be worked against.
[editline]14th July 2012[/editline]
Many people like to question why women are called sluts for sleeping with a lot of people and men are called studs, but not as many puts any attention to how men are pressured into losing their virginities while girls are praised for saving it. They to me are a variation of the same problem, they exist because of each other.
misandry doesn't exist outside of reddit? oh come on. As I have already mentioned, men are discriminated against in many ways. Women can wear men's clothes, but men who wear women's clothes are crossdressers. Women can be tough and manly, but more feminine males are "gay" and "wimpy". Society has many double standards for both men and women.
Except this is not a case of misandry. Misandry exists, but this certainly is not it. Those men are not discriminated against for being men. Those men are discriminated against for acting abnormal, for acting in ways that's atypical to what people expect. For it to cross into misandry, those men would have to act like normal men and be discriminated just for acting like normal men and being normal men.
You need to provide evidence that misandry is real because that's how burden of proof works SAUL
Its sexism towards women that saw them left home because it was assumed they were too weak (with the same training they aren't fyi)
This is the stupidest thing said in this thread so far. I'm a 33 year old white dude who almost never exercises, and I'm stronger than at least 95% of the world's women. This is a matter of biology, just like the fact that Chimpanzees are stronger than humans.

I doubt that.

Also, he said WITH training, not just out of their homes.

Its you, you are the misogynist
Its you, you are the misogynist
It's a scientific fact... men are naturally stronger than women.
It's not a coincidence that men's sports are played at a higher level than women's sports. (faster times, high scores, etc.)

Yes, but some 30 year old couch potato is by no means stronger than "95%" of women.
[editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
There is a gap, but it sure isn't that big.

bullshit; most of the women in the world do tough labour

While race has nothing to do with this, you're right.
While race has nothing to do with this, you're right.
yes it does, white people do a lot less labour than han chinese.
Indeed, I would love to see his dougy white ass work a field for 12 hours a day.
Strength =/= endurance. While he may not be able to work as long or as hard as a woman in some third world country to works the fields all day, that doesn't mean he is physically weaker. The larger size of men's bodies mean they develop relatively larger muscles. and that doesn't even include the 10 fold increase in testosterone that also leads to larger muscles.
Have you seen the arms on an Olympian volleyball player? They are no buff, they are not even necessarily stronger than a normal person, but they are ridiculously fit.
he is physically weaker because he uses his muscles in a much smaller capacity.
what you're missing is that larger size of men's bodies and testosterone doesn't translate into "more strength", that's faulty physiology. it's the potential that is greater.

No, they literally are naturally strong, without any extra work. In the same way a tall person is naturally stronger than a short person. For example, I'm 6'5" and haven't done a day of exercise in 4 years yet I can squat/bench/anything else more than some shorter people I know who work out regularly simply because my body naturally has more muscle.

I've seen first hand men being treated pretty badly by their spouses for really no reason. Just taking out anger/frustration on them by yelling at them or generally treating them badly.
Misandry certainly does exist, you can see it all the time, but as has been said it mainly exists on a personal level, and it isn't a widespread social classing like misogyny.
Getting mad at someone doesn't mean you hate everyone who is similar to that someone IE you aren't racist for getting angry at a black man, it matters why
yes it does, white people do a lot less labour than han chinese.
Are you implying that there are no white people in china
[editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
Getting mad at someone doesn't mean you hate everyone who is similar to that someone IE you aren't racist for getting angry at a black man, it matters why
But people's reactions show you otherwise. Woman beating up on a man, no big deal. Man beating up on a woman, he's a disgusting pig.
Are you implying that there are no white people in china

a white person in china must be very lost if he ends up doing hard labour.
Getting mad at someone doesn't mean you hate everyone who is similar to that someone IE you aren't racist for getting angry at a black man, it matters why
If that's a reply to my comment, there is no "reason" to be angry really in the circumstances that I refer to. It's just spousal abuse from a woman onto a man.
It may not be misandry, but then by that same token a man who beats his wife isn't a misogynist.
[editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
a white person in china must be very lost if he ends up doing hard labour.
Well it depends what "white" qualifies as. You may have russians and the like doing labor in northern china.
I think it's more about culture/ethnicity in that case, not plain skin color.
a white person in china must be very lost if he ends up doing hard labour.
Please tell me you're joking. You can't be serious.

Here's a study comparing hand grip strength of average men and women: http://ukpmc.ac.uk/abstract/MED/8384956/reload=0;jsessionid=h4E6eH5CdmtlByyhQzNt.0
One of it's conclusions include: "... men had twice the strength of women. Strength was significantly related to skeletal size and in men to body mass." (aka. larger men would see an increase in strength.)
Here's another one comparing triceps strength in men and women over the age of 65: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3338255
It concludes: "The men were significantly stronger (1128 +/- 206 vs 873 +/- 177 N) even after adjustment for body weight"
Here's a very large study: http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA025793
If you look at the results starting on page 9 you can see than men had about double the strength of women in pretty much all of the categories.
Protip: Brute strength means shit all

Actually, brute strength is relevant in a large part of the job market. Even common jobs like working in the food industry have some facets that require strength. (loading and stocking large heavy boxes)

Probably because men, on average, exercise more. If a woman were to exercise and train, she could easily be multitudes better than the average man, even the average one who went to a gym.

Even despite the huge testosterone advantage?

Of a woman who exercises a lot versus a couch potato? Yes.

I've been asked to provide proof multiple times, and I believe I have. Do you have any proof this claim?
Also, even if it were true, we are talking about real life and women don't usually do strength training.
Of a woman who exercises a lot versus a couch potato? Yes.
But you said the average man and even those who attend gyms
I'm confused

I meant those who attended lightly just so they didn't become gelatenous rolls of fat
