Tumblr breaks it up to the point where there's like tens of thousands of gender identities and sexual orientations, most of which only apply to the person who came up with it, and there are plenty of Tumblr users who argue that no matter how dubious the term or how few people it applies to that it is still as legitimate as any other identity including, for example, trans male and trans female. Incidentally, it makes it harder to get the average person to take non-binary gender identity seriously when there's a bunch of people claiming their gender identity is something like "bun" or "princess" or "mayonnaise" and still more people are pushing these identities into the spotlight.

You know what, I do have a single, specific problem with breaking down gender into many smaller categories, said problem being that it implies that those who don't fit the cookie cutter definition of how a gender should be should slot themselves into one of such new categories, thus pushing back the 'main' genders towards a set in stone definition, because hey if you don't fit the template what are you doing not being in an appropriate subgroup you poor misguided soul.
