I think you missed my edit on my original point, I'm not talking about the size difference. Go look at a glass now, you won't see that much base and that much "underside" if you look at it from the middle unless it's a huge glass

It's 2-point perspective. That is causing "see the the bottom, you're looking at the upper surface of the bottom bit. At the top, you're looking as though you're looking up from the bottom"
Close to the camera, 2 point perspective, wider field of view is causing that perspective. Also, yes, it's a bigger cup as well. Kinda like a large glass you can get at restaurants.
