Part of the gist of the thread is harsh criticism and you just have to take from it what you want. Sometimes you wear something stupid and people will shit on you for it. This is from experience too lol (from the thread and real life).

That's why the diagram reads middle button = always. If it's a 2 button then do the top one, and if it's a 1 button then do the 1 button, and if it's a no button then sell that shit or just burn it, but generally unless you're the worlds classiest and most photogenic man then leaving it open is a v v bad idea, and even then it's still a bad idea

The picture is saying when you want to close your button, always close the middle and then maybe the top, never the bottom. For 2 button always the top, never the bottom. There's not general rule against keeping your blazer open.

if you want to be anal about it, the etiquette is that you should have the jacket buttoned if you're wearing a shirt and tie under the jacket, however he's just wearing a shirt and no tie, which means he should keep it unbuttoned
