I must disagree about the short sleeve button-ups. They are harder to pull off and often times don't look as good as LS shirts with the sleeves rolled, but you can't just say that they never look good.
I've got a blue and white No Retreat SS shirt that I had major tailoring done on to make it fit the way I wanted, and now it looks really good.
Only time I get to wear a suit is funerals

the other day i was chatting to a friend at uni about clothes and it turned out his shoes were 80 (looked like fairly standard converse-style shoes but apparently were made by some hard-wearing shoe company i've never heard of) his top was 60 (which was half of its original retail price, from all saints but i would never have known), his coat was 120 (looked like a normal dark combat-esque jacket but it had a little barbour logo on it)
i mean wtf is the point. he tried to argue with me that the stuff would last him forever because it's such high quality and that i would end up spending more money than him in the long run... but that's bullshit because nothing i've ever owned has fallen apart other than a shit jacket and a shit pair of shoes from topman. he'd buy new stuff at the same price in a few months anyways so the practicality argument is totally lost
on the contrary, the most expensive article of clothing I ever bought had a really short life. I paid 180 dollars for a pair of nudies and they shrunk in the wash so bad, I can't even wear them anymore. They probably shrunk 2 sizes smaller than I originally received them.

Fit depends on individual body shape and can be tailored for far less, anything that's not cheapo china shit lasts, the feel is probably a placebo from the huge price and most of that shit is far from aesthetic.
Good shit can be hard to fine but assuming because they bumped up the price a fuckload it has to be good is fallacious.
