are there any good shoes for winter that don't look terrible?
I shampoo every 2-3 days. Just make sure to rinse out the scalp with lots cold water. Hot water just dries everything out.
Went shopping today

How'd I do?
Obviously, ignore the lack of ironing on the shirts
Just figured out those carhartt jeans I posted are sold out in my size so instead i'm getting a pair of levis 511 Slim Jeans in pretty much the same colour
I like the cardigan style.
It's all very neutral colored though. Unless you were just looking for neutral stuff then that's alright. I like 'em.

What do people suggest for wearing with a raw denim jacket?
a coat so no one sees the jacket
[editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
but really, if you really want to wear a denim jacket try some chinos or something, avoid denim pants but i think you realised that already
both
What sort of style do you lean towards?
What do people suggest for wearing with a raw denim jacket?
I wore a button down gingham shirt today with my denim jacket.
Oh no something different, let's all shit ourselves
If you've washed your hair with product since forever, you're forcibly stripping your scalp of its natural functioning oils, which means the sebaceous glands in your hair follicles will over-produce to compensate for the loss. Since the sebum production is cumulative, this results in greasy hair very quickly if you give it any breathing room without shampoo, which lends people the misconception that not using shampoo leads to unpleasent hair condition.
Apparently it's a two to six week recovery period for your glands to die down and stop making your hair greasy/smelly/whatever if you go cold turkey on shampoo.
That sounds like it makes sense, but I'd be wary of going six weeks without shampoo.
Disgusting, don't do this
It takes months, but it feels awesome and cleans itself. I did it for three years without a problem.

Probably should have specified I meant bottom half, but thanks.
Also I don't really like chinos. Or rather, I hate the crowd which has adopted them as their uniform

Reckon dark grey jeans would work? Or is double denim really so much of a sin
black jeans are always fine, double denim isn't a sin really provided the denim colours are not the same.

Someone actually once told me I don't know anything about fashion because I was wearing dark grey jeans and a blue chambray shirt
I also only wash/shampoo my hair every 3-4 days, but for a different reason.
My hair is naturally curly and for some reason not washing it makes it straighter and straighter by the day. On days 3-4 I don't even have to flat iron it anymore and it becomes very easy to style.
I have no idea why this happens but I really like it, and no, it doesn't smell and doesn't look disgusting.
I remember there was a time in an old thread that we argued about this for 3 pages, because some idiot insisted that if you didn't shampoo every day your hair was a disgusting mass of filth, and didn't listen when we told him not all people have his hair
Hah, it was me that time as well
He was saying how his hair stank if he didn't shampoo it for two days or something. Hair starting to smell is a completely foreign concept to me :v:
That sounds like it makes sense, but I'd be wary of going six weeks without shampoo.
Well yep, if you're switching from constant shampoo to none it'll be rough for the transition
Apparently it's not as bad if you do it gradually, just leave an extra day or two between shampooing at first and so on incrementally

Hmm, never thought of it that way, maybe Ill give it a try.
While we're on the bathing theme. I also heard its unhealthy to wash your skin too frequently. Which is why I only take like 3-4 showers per week or so. But my face gets so oily from time to time, maybe if I stopped washing my face so frequently, it would regulate itself?

How old are you? I only ever wash my face with warm water while I'm in the shower (apart from the areas I shave) and my face isn't oily at all. It may be a similar deal to the hair because I remember that I used to have a pretty oily face and lots of acne. Not sure if not using soap is what helped or if I just grew out of it.

Well it's the same glands that cause oily facial skin, so I'd recommend the same treatment as hair - that is, cut the product, rinse/massage with hot water thoroughly and frequently. (Dead skin or dirt will contribute to your problem, so I wouldn't advise not washing your face regularly)
I'm not an expert at having nice skin, mind. Mine isn't super smooth or anything, but I don't have any acne and never get oily or anything, so that's all I can really speak to.
Maybe someone else in here can tell you how to improve your skin more, rubbing baking soda on it or something like that. (I was being satirical there but that might actually work with water? idk)
don't do this
genes have an affect on your skin but there's a lot you can do about it to improve the way your face looks. if you're having issues with acne or overly oily skin completely cut out any sugary, greasy fast and junk foods and drinks, especially pop. don't touch them for at least 2-3 months or longer. these items contribute to that oil build up. drink A LOT of water, don't drink strictly water however, this drops overall salt levels in the body and generally isn't good, have some milk or juice every now and then. (make sure it's healthy juice and not some concentrated shit). wash your face daily, use moisturizers so it doesn't get dry which also contributes to acne, but don't lather your face with a ton of it, otherwise you're just doing more damage. avoid touching your face. this is the biggest thing I can stress about taking care of your face. your hands are filthy from all the things you touch in a day. also, take supplements and vitamins, as it's not only good for your face but also for your overall health, if you know which to take.
