Lugz are eew, I just got Skytops, the all grey Supratuf ones, their my favorite shoes ever, Osiris' can be okay but those are disgusting, I love Adidas' as well but those are horrid. Go with the Skytops, especially if you skate, their known for lasting retardedly long amounts of time as well as having insane impact protection. I find myself jumping off huge shit just for the hell of it when I wear them, I walk down a 17 set pretty much every day, and jumping down it feels like I just jumped off a curb.

I'd say blues, more versatile in more dress situations, also can be worn at night without looking out of place.

They're nice and simple for high tops so they're not obnoxious like a few of the shoes you linked and are pretty retro. Not too expensive either. I recommend them unless you don't like the big nike logos on the side, but personally I think that adds to the 80s retro feel. Nike blazers could be good too.

Mess dress is only for super fancy occasions. Now, with ASU's (Army dress blues, not the mess dress), I actually could wear it to any social gathering I deem appropriate to wear it to. I just want the mess dress for those few occasions when a fancier uniform is required, such as weddings or a dine-in, or any other really formal dinner.
