Just because there's an even more expensive belt available (for god knows why), it doesn't change the fact that $140 for a belt is waaaayyyy too much

I'm trying to fathom how you would wear that.
[editline]30th November 2012[/editline]
Also, $140 for a belt that looks like that is ridiculous. You could get a Tanner, Corter or a Hollows belt for literally half the price.

i've had the same plain old black leather belt from american eagle for 4 years

I like how that belt is over $1000 and pre-owned. I wonder how much it was new.

What's the problem? Here in italy there are no cheap-ass stores where you can get jeans for like 20$.... The cheapest jeans start at 35-40€ wich is about 50$... And those are the shit-quality ones you get in a supermarket.
Also Levi's jeans are pretty bad compared to real italian brands. The only good Levi's are the raw denim ones but they cost 200$+
Also I cant imagine a 5$ belt being of good quality and looking good. Just getting half a meter of leather costs more, how can you get a stitched leather belt for that much?
About the wool sweater, at first 280$ may seem a lot, but if you buy the wool yourself and pay someone a normal salary of 10€/hour to make it it's gonna cost you just that much. It takes about 5 weeks to make such a sweater from virgin alpaca wool which has to be hand-worked.
Also compared to the average guy in Italy my clothes are pretty normal, I'm not the guy with the expensive clothes..... Tshirts aswell I dont know how much you pay for one but here good looking and well-cut, wich is the most important thing, T-Shirts start at 30€ wich is 38$.
Probably because here in Italy being dressed well is a priority for everyone, we spend less on other things and we compensate on clothing. Even a bricklayer has quality clothes, being dressed good is a basic thing like having a good car here. Sometimes you see people living in a minuscule flat but with a VolksWagen Golf or and Audi A3.... Our culture is different regarding clothes, cars etc.. Look at the most important designers in the world: Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce&Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Munari, Mario Prada. They are all Italian.

Those are all horrible imo. Except Gucci sometimes. Most of their stuff is bland and chavvy. But that's just my taste.

Their entry level stuff is usually tacky but the suits these companies make, especially armani, are mostly really good

I'm gonna call you out on something. You spent a massive amount of money on a pair of jeans purely because they're made in Italy? Italian denim isn't exactly renowned. You could've put the same amount of money into a pair of Japanese or American jeans which would look better and last longer.

I don't think an expensive suit would work for me as of now, but i'd definitely consider buying an armani one or something when i'm older and have plenty of money (hopefully I will do at some point in my life)

If you are going to get an ~expensive~ suit, get one made.
Also haven't picked up anything new lately, but there is a thrift shop I haven't been to yet a few towns away from me so I might check that out.

Just going to throw this out there, you can work 'virgin alpaca wool' on a knitting machine. There is an alpaca farm a mile from my home and my mothers hobby is machine and hand knitting, she works with alpaca yarn all of the time and she can make a sweater off a pattern on her machine in just a few hours, then all that has to be done is for it to have the final seaming done.

Not just because they're made in Italy, but because they are an absolutely amazing looking pair of jeans which are also made in my country. Italian jeans may not be the absolute best quality wise, but on the looks you can't really beat them.
The store where I'm buying jeans has this brands: Diesel, Meltin Pot, Gas, Guess, Marlboro Classics and sometimes Hilfiger. That's it and that's enough choice for me. All good looking and high quality brands.

I'm still gonna have to go against you here. I know for a fact there are at least a few quality denim boutiques in Italy. Most of the brands you listed are (for lack of a better word) poser brands, as in they make jeans but not necessarily with good denim or with care for the function of them. Obviously I'm a bit of a denim enthusiast and I like proper jeans, if you're not that's fine, but at the same time you could've got jeans that looked almost identical from a company like Nudie for much much less.
Before anyone bitches at me about using the term "poser", I just couldn't think of a better word to describe companies of that ilk. I own a pair of Guess jeans and have owned Diesels, and for the price I think they're pretty disappointing. My Tellasons cost a fair bit more than either but I can see and feel the difference in quality
good looking clothes, not good looking brands.

Oh, wow, you managed to spend $100 less, yet still at least $450 too much. The shoes alone are a laugh riot for $280, so it's hilarious.
