I shot blank adapted guns in my front yard today because 'Merica.

yeah, lets have Apologist Awareness Month. A lash for each sin my country made.
Nobody really cares unless you're doing it super late.
At least where I went - my parents' house in Tallahassee.
I was wondering why no one else was lobbing shells off.

It's illegal to buy, sell, or possess them. To buy 'em I had to sign a waiver saying I was over 18 and wouldn't shoot them off in Florida and it isn't the seller's fault if I hurt myself (which I did :V!)
I spent the day in Chicago with the family. In 90+ Fahrenheit weather on a cloudless day with little-to-no wind.
Can it be winter again, please?
And cloudy, too. Yeah, cloudy would be nice.
Best 4th I ever had was last year. My ex-girlfriend's dad dug a 3-inch deep hole, put a paper towel tube in it and filled it to the brim with gun powder. We all stood behind his truck as he lit the det. cord. It was so loud that the police came to the house asking if we had heard any artillery fire near by. That man was the coolest guy I knew.

90+? it was in the triple digits. Hit 107 in the north suburbs
also I wouldn't trust any of my neighbors in this area with fireworks, but there's shells going off left and right, some large. None of the townships are actually doing shows, so it's all illegal stuff since airborn stuff is illegal, especially with the drought.
So, in the midst of everything, me, my girlfriend, and my roommate went out our front door and hung out by the little pond here, lit some sparklers, and promptly got yelled at by an asshole neighbor for setting off fireworks and being threatened with having the cops called on us
then a big ear drum pounding shell went off somewhere on the edge of the subdivision, and he just kept yelling at us
seriously dude?

Gotta love selective enforcement.
I've been hearing fireworks go off for several hours now. Which is funny, because all the local municipalities canceled their displays this year because of the drought, and Illinois law makes civilian ownership and use strictly verboten.
Living near the Wisconsin border is fun.
Bacon hamburgers + Fireworks.
Need I say more?
I had dumplings and ribs in the true Chinese American way!

get a load of this autismal retard.

No big fireworks display in my city this year but i'll show pictures of what I bought if I can get the camera working.

All though late... I hope everyone had a good independence day.
I went fishing, taught three beautiful ladies how to fish and got mild sunburn while watching people launching all sorts of smoke bombs and fireworks.
Fuck King George
He died in 1820.
I got to watch Fireworks on the beach :v:
I wanted to shoot off some of our own, even if it is illegal because we did it at home all the time and they're illegal there too but the police were cracking down heavy on the streets :l
Coulda did it on the beach, though! even though not even sparklers were allowed, no one gave a shit and neither did the beach patrols.
mom and dad wanted to be goody two-shoes and didn't even let us bring the cheapy little basic sparklers we bought.
The funny thing is that practically all of Europe fucked with the natives back when the United States was just a big land grab (let's not forget the Spanish and the Aztecs in the central Americas). However, a lot of people still point at the Western Expansion genocide of American history. I'm not trying justify the American part of genocide (or even the European for that matter) I'm just trying to say that the scenario was pretty fucked up.
I don't mean to support Ostegolation's shit storm but this is some thing I want to get off my chest...
There is a dark side to every country in History, whether it be recent or more down the line.
I some times think why my country gets so much shit for what it's worth. And then I remember why. We're the country that fucked up the most recently. We had a dumb president who made extreme accusations of the middle east and pretty much claimed all of the area as Al Qaeda's hiding place (there were a lot more ridiculous reasons but that's the short version).
I may not support everything my country has done through history, but I love my country. Sure, we got racist hicks, our education system is in the gutter, we have a poor diet and we are be lazy. Regardless, I love my country for its ambition. And even though it started out the opposite of what it was trying to be, it's definitely come a long way in just 200 years. And the fact that we have the ambition to change with every generation brings me promise.
God bless America and I hope you all had a happy 4th of July.
Most fireworks are illegal in Kentucky, but thanks to loop-holing and chill cops, everyone just goes to Indiana to buy a metric fuckton of fireworks. It's illegal to buy them in Kentucky, but not to set them off.
I love all of the America haters, they provide tons of entertainment.
While America did have its intolerance (slavery and the destruction of native culture) it has also provided the world with quite a lot.
The American Revolution helped spark a ton of Latin American revolutions and even factored in on the French Revolution.
The United States ended WW1 a lot faster than it would have when we entered.
The United States spearheaded the Western assault on Nazi Germany, driving the final nail in the coffin of Hitler's Reich while simultaneously beating back and ultimately defeating the Japanese after their attack on Pearl Harbor in the Pacific.
Since then the United States has entered some questionable wars but has also done a lot of good as well, even if you say Vietnam and Korea were unnecessary I think that what we did was right (we entered for the wrong reason though), without our help South Korea would have entered a dark period in which the autocratic regime would have milked the peninsula dry, instead of that South Korea is now flourishing. Perhaps if the media hadn't portrayed the Vietnam war as such an impossible to win war we would have won there, we were right on the verge of victory when the Tet Offensive occurred and was over-dramaticized by the media (despite the overwhelming defeat that the NVA had in the offensive). If we had won I would be willing to bet that Vietnam wouldn't have descended into poverty as it had.
All in all the United States has done a lot of good for the world despite the amount of bad it had done too.
1: The American revolution, no matter what it provided. Was started over some people who didn't want to pay taxes. If that happened today George Washington would be a hobo.
2: WW1 was essentially a shit war no matter who you were, so don't use that as an example for good things. Germany was literally just helping its ally when england declared war on them for moving through Belgium, and then it escalated. The war crippled Germany's economy which allowed the Nazis to take power.
3: America didn't do shit until they were attacked directly, and even then most of the successful operations against Germany were done by the British, the Canadians and the French. Oh, and the French free army which liberated most of southern Europe and most of Africa from the axis, weren't allowed to liberate Paris. Because the Americans didn't want to fight alongside blacks.
4: Vietnam was an entirely pointless war. America claimed that the NVC had attacked a ship off the coast of Vietnam, no record of any such event exists. Oh and I'm sure Vietnam would flourish under American occupation, just like Japan did! Hell, maybe if you nuked Vietnam and Korea, their peoples would celebrate all American kind! Oh, and by the way, by "over-dramatized" did you mean the fact that ten fucking thousand Americans died with little to no gain? Because that happened.
Every single one of your examples were of warfare, not one was of scientific breakthrough or cultural contribution. I just think America has yet to show the world that it is capable of anything other than war.

Colonists rebelled against taxes because they settled in the New World to avoid such things. Many colonies were already ruling themselves with the crown on the sidelines and they were pretty pissed off them the British tried to reinforce their position upon the colonists.

Germany was 'honorbound' to help Austria-Hungary when it decided to use it's iron hand over the badly-treated Balkan States. Germany also fucked over Belgium's neutrality and wanted to settle scores with France. America entering the war so late provided a massive morale boost and a fresh new ally to force the Germans into agreeing to a truce.

Yeah, the British were master strategists. Look at Dieppe. The French Army was allowed to retake Paris, the Americans literally stepped aside to let Charles De Gualle go in first for political reasons.

You seriously think the Gulf of Tonkin incident was the spark that started this all?

Thomas Edison never invented anything, he stole all of his designs from Nikola Tesla. Tesla advised the American military to use radar during ww1, but Edison convinced them that it had no military application.
I will agree with solar panels, airplanes, the moon landing, and the space station. Perhaps I was too quick to judge. Dieppe isn't a good example, that's like saying "Oh yeah, Russia sucks at warfare, look at the winter war." Because the British fought the Germans off of Britain singlehandedly, the Canadians liberated Belgium and Holland, and the French free army liberated most of Europe and Africa.
Now, without America, Japan probably would've taken much longer to surrender, and I will grant you that. But from what I've read, the Americans really didn't do much in Europe that wasn't already being done.

Excuse me while I pull out the other thousands of inventors throughout American history which legacies now left a very positive imprint on the rest of the fucking world

That's because Russia really did suck. Germany never invaded Britain you retard. Even then, it used American inventions such as an airplane. Do you seriously think that Britain alone could have put any of their operations in plan without American backing? Britain was almost starving had it no been for the shitton of merchant vessels America threw across the sea, and without the Americans refining SONAR during the 30's the fucking war would have been lost

accidental hit reply - but most of the stuff Edison actually did take from Tesla. Tesla: A Man out of Time is a pretty interesting read.
if nothing else, know that at least Edison did have a smear campaign against the better, safer AC.
My friends and I made molotovs because we couldnt get good fireworks in Arizona.
Fuck Edison. Tesla was the man.
[editline]5th July 2012[/editline]
The thing about America is, we're (at least supposed to be) a safe haven for immigrants to start a new life. A large number of our great people are immigrants running from something. Tesla, Einstein, even Elon Musk. All immigrants.
We are a melting pot of cultures from all over the globe. You'll find communities and descendants of people from all over the world, that came here at one point to try to get a better life. We are, in essence, the first attempt at a community of every culture. Even if it didn't turn out too well, with all the hypocritical things like owning slaves while saying freedom is for everyman. Though, no country is perfect, and you'll find in any large grouping of human beings big enough to be called a nation there will be corruption and bigotry. There were a lot of kinks to iron out, and still are many more to iron out yet. But don't dismiss us yet.
