I really want to use intuit mint but the way it requires your bank user and pass makes me super queasy. Doesn't that mean it is stored someplace in goddamn plaintext (or encrypted but the server has the key so whatever) so that they can automate logging into my account to grab data for mint to use?

They encrypt everything and they're a massive company that's insane about security (think TurboTax and all those SSN), I have no problem letting them have access to that. It would make sense that it's also encrypted with your password you use to login, so that's probably the case as well.
Keep in mind that giving your bank login information to a third party is likely against the terms you agreed to when signing up for your account/online banking and grounds for them to not reimburse you should any fraudulent activity appear on your account.
In an ideal world we would be able to allow access to our information on a case-by-case basis without having to reveal our passwords, much like how logging into a third-party system with our Google or Facebook account works, but this isn't an ideal world. It's a world where banks still limit passwords to twelve alphanumeric characters and don't know what two-factor authentication is.
Ahhhh, I'm buying new clothes next week and it's honestly going to be such a relief.
I'd always kind of hated the way I dressed and felt I needed change.
Happy valentines day everyone :3
I have a full budget drawn up already. I allow 30$ a week for gas and 15$ a week for food. I still live with my parents, but I honestly dislike living here so much that I am considering finding a 2nd job to make enough money to move out (I'm also 18). But the problem with that is as soon as I do it, I am cut off from all financial support, and that's not exactly wise at this point in my life.

I have too much pride to get rid of my car.
I ended up moving out at 17 due to my parents pretty much depressing the shit out of me to the point of me wanting to kill myself. I've been living with a guy named Muhammad and we split the bills every month ever since.
If we're talking about finances,
My job nets me $800 a month. I get paid $9.50 an hour and I work about 30 hours a week. My car payment is $350 + gas + food.
At the end of the month after all expenses, I have probably about $250 left.
I am not doing well.
Wow thats an expensive car payment. I've always heard you never want your car payment to be more than 20% of your monthly income and even that is pushing it. What is your rent (if any?)
When I worked at target a good month was $700/mo. This was okay for me at the time because I was one of 3 roommates so my rent was only 250/mo, and I didn't spend much on food or gas, so money in the bag was $300-$400, which is totally fine for saving up and buying the occasional fun thing or eating out here and there. At least having $250/mo profit every month isn't dire straights, a lot of people in your position literally live paycheck to paycheck and have to seriously skimp to make $50 profit per month. Its not making loads of money sure, but its enough to save up +$1600 or so net worth by the end of the year. Not saying your situation doesn't suck, but there is a light in the tunnel!
Of course my breakout moment was quitting that job when they started cutting hours and working pizza for almost 1.5-1.6X my old pay on a good week after car expenses. If I were you i'd ditch the car for one you don't have to make payments on. I've done pizza delivery for almost 5 years now and it wasn't until just this year when I got a load of money in from Pell Grant and when I knew I could work near full time hours once I graduated (enough to make $1600-1900/mo at least) that I decided on taking a car payment on, and my payment is still only $85/mo (big down payment plus good credit helped a lot).

I have too much pride to get rid of my car.
There is no shame in living with your parents until you get a bigger better job. I did it until I was 19 and still get support from my dad despite me being 25 next week (in the form of insurance only pretty much). The world is a much more expensive place to live in than it used to be and it simply isn't possible to move out on your own at 18 unless you have serious connections or a seriously wealthy family helping you out.
That said, I'm saying it now: as long as you "have too much pride to get rid of my car" you pretty much revoke any financial freedom you might want until it is paid off. That car is way, way outside of your means and its financial suicide 101 to being in debt/hardship for the rest of your life buying cars like that. It won't get better until you start getting paid double (even then it will be hard and likely not affordable again once you move out and have to paid $400/mo in rent and bills), you pay it off, or get rid of it.
Not saying you have to part with it now, but you are going to stay exactly where you are at now for years on into the future until you get rid of that payment one way or another. Eventually you might realize you like having a financial future and a savings more than you like having the world's most expensive style of toy.
I am not the one that initially started making payments on it. It was a birthday gift to me. But then I made a fuckup last year with my parents and school (which I won't go into detail on) and I had to start making payments on it. The reason it is so high is because there's only two or four year financing on it. The car cost about $19,000.
The reason i don't want to get rid of my car is that it is perhaps one of the only valuable things I have in my life at this point. My car is like my best friend to me. It's one of my only friends and it listens to everything I say when I complain and it doesn't try to argue. It just listens.
Dude get rid of your car and buy a compact, you'll have a lot more money, be able to afford rent to get away from your parents and still be able to get from A to B for even less gas. Sure you won't have a nice toy but overall I think you'd be happier and more independent.
You can't really come in here and complain you don't have enough money at the end of the month when you're paying for a car like that
It's like saying "I can't make ends meet and I buy 300$ worth of games each month"

It's not as easy as that. I can't just give up this car because I don't own it. It's not in my name. My parents are forcing me to make car payments and if I just gave this car back to them they would still make me pay for it. I can't move out or become independent right now because it will just make things worse.
How? It's not in your name. You are not legally bound in any way
How? It's not in your name. You are not legally bound in any way
No, but do I really have the time or money to fight the legality of it? My parents are doing it as a lesson to me and if I fought the legality then it would ruin my relationship with them.
Transfer the contract to whoever buys the car.
The car isn't mine to sell and isn't legally mine. Technically the payments I make aren't even legally going to it. My parents just take $350 a month from me.
If my parents forced me to pay them for a car that's way out of my budget - as a lesson- every month I wouldn't care about the status of my relationship with them.
Maybe you should try posting about it in STGYM.

Ask your parents to transfer the contract to you so you can do what you want with it.
V-day has caused zero disruption to my D&D game, what a shocker.
I hope you all get the D or the V in your Valentine's Day.
I accidentally snapped a nude to my story instead of a private chat. Fuck.

Only thing I'm getting today is a 5 hour shift at work. So I got that going for me.

to your story?
MaddaCheeb, I'd recommend either not paying for the car (since you're not legally obligated to do so), or tell your parents to transfer it into your name since you're making all the payments on it.
I feel a bit hypocritical saying that since I have a $475/month car payment and $250/month insurance payment but in your situation it's probably best to have a less expensive car.
