Haha Holy shit you got issues then
Why not congratulate people for making the world a better place?
Why not congratulate people for making the world a better place?
Jesus christ hahahaha
Why do you think that using drugs, such as alcohol, is in all cases macho culture and the bad things that entails? Why are you not making a distinguishment between "macho culture" and alcohol? One involves the other, but it does not go both ways.
I explained that in the post earlier. It doesn't matter if you are drinking appropriately and do not adhere to the 'macho culture,' your visibility whilst doing so can assist to consolidate that culture. It's the most logical implication of stupidity. If a stupid person with certain beliefs see someone doing something that coincides with their certain beliefs they can or will associate the behaviour as confirmation of their beliefs.
Why not congratulate people for making the world a better place?
you haven't made a valid argument how drugs make the world a bad place
Jesus christ hahahaha
Not engaging me doesn't help me to learn. [editline]2nd March 2015[/editline]
you haven't made a valid argument how drugs make the world a bad place
I'm hoping you're using drugs to include alcohol because I almost exclusively am talking about alcohol here.
Fuck I drank some wine Guess I'm a macho and I'm gonna go punch a bitch to feel alpha. If only I didn't drink I could get a good pat on the back for making the world better
I explained that in the post earlier. You are absolutely in the wrong here.
So because a dumb person that enjoys alcohol and enjoys using it as an excuse to be violent means that nobody else gets to enjoy alcohol. You are absolutely in the wrong here.
No when did I say everyone should stop drinking? I've already conceded that not drinking doesn't make you better as well. All I am saying is that I am justified in congratulating someone for not drinking alcohol.
They're not better but they deserve congratulations Suuuuure
They're not better but they deserve congratulations Suuuuure
Helping out doesn't make you better. It's just helpful.
It doesn't help shit and you're delusional
No when did I say everyone should stop drinking? I've already conceded that not drinking doesn't make you better as well. All I am saying is that I am justified in congratulating someone for not drinking alcohol.
Saying that not drinking deserves congratulations definitely means saying that people shouldn't drink. You're not justified, because you're creating an arbitrary restriction. A dumb person thinking the dumb thought that "because some people drink and are not violent, therefore violence is okay", is no reason for anyone else to care. You are not explaining why drinking is bad, only that "some people are dumb".
Man, all this talk about alcohol and I still won't be legally allowed to drink in the U.S. until 2020. Some of my friends will be in or nearly in their thirties by then
"I'm gonna get married so I can have a wife to abuse! hey look, that guy over there is married, therefore i am justified" "congratulations on not getting married" This isn't how it works.

That's how you change a culture. By changing behaviour. I think that if people are aware of how their actions can negatively impact dumb people then they will be capable of drinking without doing so.

It still isn't about the alcohol. You don't stop doing a different activity alltogether just because some people use it as justification. You teach by example by not being violent and criticize violence. You point out how you're not a violent drunk.

And you reduce domestic abuse and violence by leading by example and calling out bad behaviour when you see it. People who drink are capable of leading by example and they do, hence why drinking is not necessarily worse than not drinking. But I can more easily identify people who manage to do the same if they tell me they don't drink. That's much easier to identify. And with the second point, the same thing. I was just responding to both without having seen the second.
Do you not see how wrong it is to say everyone should stop doing some activity, or that the activity is bad, because some people irrationally use it as a justification for other actions? You're still saying that you should congratulate people for not doing something that is unrelated to the actual problem. You do NOT more easily identify people that dislike and discourage violence just by noting those who don't drink. [editline]1st March 2015[/editline] that's insulting to anyone that does drink, to say that drinking means they might not be anti-violence
Hitler was a vegetarian so we should congratulate people for eating meat
Why not congratulate people for making the world a better place?
i didn't want to get involved in such a stupid argument but, really? that's what you're going to say. Jesus its like tumblr in here right now, apparently drinking liquor makes you Hitler.

Aw Yeah we went full Godwin up in this bitch

Stop being silly people and let me realise I'm wrong if I am in sensible conversation. Spouting random fallacy at me isn't gonna change my mind. Bitches is the only one bothering here.
But I don't accept that the macho culture and sub drinking culture can be forwarded by people who don't drink.
That is still irrelevant to congratulating people. That's completely bonkers and is still insulting to others. There's a big difference between recognizing a sign of someone's beliefs versus taking it as a positive aspect of them (thus implying that drinking would be a negative). And you ARE saying that drinking is a negative, and saying that it makes the world a worse place.
But I don't accept that the macho culture and sub drinking culture can be forwarded by people who don't drink.
so wait someone can be macho as fuck pumping iron at the gym driving big trucks but he doesn't drink so he's not macho at all and cant propagate the notion of machismo.
Why would we bother? Your argument doesn't make any sense and you keep spewing the same bullshit regardless of what people say. You're not gonna change your mind
