In the past I've disliked Vsauce, but his recent stuff has been pretty great.
You've...disliked vsauce? How? You watch his videos on really interesting facts and concepts all the while he gives you good visuals and things to think about, and you just think "MAN THIS SHIT SUCKS".

To hear it: The audio in this clip is not so good but it is way louder. Everytime i hear it i check the time and date to not freak the F out. I don't know if it was because I used to live near an ANG base or not, but every first Monday of the month at noon the sirens would go off and freak the hell out of me. I remember when my friend and I were playing on his trampoline one time when they went off and we jumped up pretending like we were exploding because we were being invaded or something. On a separate note, does anyone remember the DC mission in MW2? The loading screen before the mission was the colorful screen with the beeping, shit was eerie as hell. Then you wake up in the underground bunker with people hurt and everything, I really loved the atmosphere of that part.
Don't view if you don't want to get chilled further:
I think one of the most frightening aspects of that warning is the sheer cold inhumanity of it. It's a series of shrill alarms demanding your attention, an extremely basic visual, and a synthetic announcer delivering the news of impending nuclear hell in the most dispassionate manner possible. Edit: Oh god, and imagine you're in your house watching this in absolute dread, and the voice message from the government that's supposed to come on, just... doesn't. It's silence. It's the same on all the channels, too.

In our town we have sirens that go off at 3PM every two days. It's awesome, sounds like this:

I guess they never test that shit in Canada because I've never heard any alarms whatsoever. Probably because Canada is so god damned Barren that there's nothing to nuke up here.
You'd think the government would try to avoid panic and shocking people but nope, loud sirens and text-to-speech alerts.
when serious shit is going down and people are in imminent danger, that's kinda the point. straight and concise and to the point: "get the fuck out right now or you are going to DIE, motherfucker!"
air raid sirens are justifiably terrifying sounds
we get tornado siren tests every first wednesday of the month at 11:00 here [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
Edit: Oh god, and imagine you're in your house watching this in absolute dread, and the voice message from the government that's supposed to come on, just... doesn't. It's the same on all the channels, too.
this reminds me of a few days ago one of those fuckhuge storms (part of the same chain that flattened moore) was rolling over, and there was a huge chance of tornadoes scheduled the meteorologist for the metro area was talking on the news, and he said that the channel called the fire department for the suburb i live in, and apparently the tornado siren system was malfunctioning in my town okay, i figured, if a tornado warning pops up in my county, i'll wait for the emergency alert system to break onto the TV, that's how i'll know it's coming and then the power went out
