My way of looking at these two as if they were videogames: Paintball Scifi-shooter with usually colourfull areas and weird looking guns, higher tempo and shorter games. Air-soft Modern shooter trying to be as realistic and as simulative as possible.
So Halo and MW2?
When i lived in California i played paint-ball and i loved it i played at Hollywood Sports which if you live near there its a blast they buy out old movie sets and turn them into paint-ball courses, where you have huge games sometimes like 100 on 100 people games or if thats not your thing they also have a speed ball course, i also got to play woods-ball once or twice which was also ALOT of fun... at the time of playing paint-ball i had heard of airsoft but i had never played i had no opinion of it Good or Bad. Unfortunately i had to move away from California and i moved to Oregon when i did i gave all my gear and my gun to a friend who was just getting into paint-ball because i didn't think there would be any real paint-ballers where i was moving, i was right but as i started making friends i found that there was a group of guys that played airsoft long story short i eventually started playing... I in all honesty like the games about the same... there are thing i prefer about airsoft over paint-ball such as the realistic guns to me it does make a bit of a difference, to be completely honest i got way more of a rush out of Paint-ball but then again its hard for me to compare our games of like 8-14 players in airsoft to the 200 player games in California i would imagine that if i was playing airsoft games with that many players i would get just as big a rush... anyway there will always be players who get a Walmart gun who think they can play and who will make a bad name for the sport and there will always be arguments over which one is better but if you ask anyone with some respect for both games it comes down to preference i like the high speed and big adrenalin rushes from paint-ball but i dislike the way the guns are designed and as BURG put it "buying paint is like throwing money into a hole and burning it" but the game is still allot of fun, i enjoy how tactical airsoft is (at least how tactical our games are) and i like the realism but i hate that so many people buy Walmart guns or Chinese clones or Worse JG guns and then try to play this is not what we want people to think of when they think airsoft but unfortunately to often it is and there is a HUGE trust factor with Airsoft i have to trust that you will call your hits there is no way for me to determine if i have hit you, you could not call your hit so you can stay in or you might not have felt the hit due to the cloths you where wearing and lets face it there are people we play with that have a hard time calling there hits... well i will leave you with that i am currently a happy airsoft player and dont see myself playing paint-ball again anytime soon
AirSoft vs PaintBall Airsoft is for softies Paintball contains balls theirfore MANLY
Disagreeing, airsoft is for MANLY. Paintball is for little kids. :3 Nah, it's just opinion.
I went paintballing last sunday with a few friends, we spent over £240 on paintballs.
How about join a military service in stead being a pussy and pretending.
I'd love to, but because I have a history of back pain I can't join the British Army, so instead I pretend to be Russian.
Paintballing is not horribly expensive depending on your field. My field has no entry fee if you come back within two weeks. They sell bags of 500 paintballs for 1/4 the price of a case instead of forcing you to buy cases. They also count the paint you have left over, so when you come back they give you back the paint you didn't shoot. There has been a couple times I have played for 4 hours for less than $10. Paintball can also be reasonable depending on how you play. If you have a speedball marker, try limiting the BPS or play semi, no ramping. Practice shooting with your gun so you can hit targets without using as many balls. On the other hand, if you want to try something new, buy a pump paintball marker. Since your rate of fire is severally reduced, saving paint is pretty much guaranteed. Pump play is also a new experience and many claim that playing pump for a while improved their game with an electro. I plan on buying a pump marker within a month or two.
How about join a military service in stead being a pussy and pretending.
Where I go for events, many of the players are ex-military, veterans, or law enforcement.
I just found out my local field now lets you buy half cases for $35 :D
I dont think they make any paintball double barreled shotguns. Victory!
as Edberg said before I think Paintball = Halo Airsoft = ArmA2 run and gun tacticool
Airsoft are mostly for skinny teenagers with a gun fixation. Paintball is for adults generally since it hurt's alot more.
:v: Don't listen to this man.
Apparently, that is where you started - and still are. Just with a $30 gun from the local sports store (: But what about you hopping off that high horse of yours for a sec, and give paintball a break? Have you even tried it? I'm talking from experiance, what are you talking from?
I played paintball a lot, then stopped for about 2 years because I moved all the way across the country and had no friends to play it with. Plus, I had used my friend's paintball gun, he had 3. I never owned my own, so I don't know or care a whole lot about paintball gun customization. Then I moved on and started playing airsoft, instead of waiting for my friends to get interested in it I got them interested myself. I now have 4 friends, working on 5, that have started airsoft and gotten pretty good guns. And no, I don't have a $30 walmart gun.
Just making an arguement anti-both is that you can get a real gun for the price of an airsoft. Cut the elitism. We can't all own guns either. I live in California.
I live in Canada. Its hard enough getting our airsoft guns here never mind real guns.
How about join a military service in stead being a pussy and pretending.
Simple I lack a death wish.
I live in California too and I almost bought that thing at a show. I don't want to kill things either, I just plink with .22s.
Why would I want to plink? You can't do what you do with airsoft guns (and paintball guns at that) with real guns. Seriously, we don't want real guns. We'd have real guns if we wanted them, we all know they cost about the same. And they cost the same because airsoft guns are more complex than real guns, albeit real guns' externals are generally more durable, and you need stronger usually more expensive materials to make the inner workings.

Sounds a lot more dangerous too. Just no. We can't do that.

Whoa, plastic bullets fall under the category of less than lethal. Sure it's not going kill you but that is dangerous. Killed my automerge.
Whoa, plastic bullets fall under the category of less than lethal. Sure it's not going kill you but that is dangerous. Killed my automerge.
You didn't know that plastic bullets are LTL?
Didn't quite know what you meant. Googled 'plastic bullets'. Who would play that game your dad's co-worker and brother played?! You can hardly compare that to airsoft. A plastic bullet's joules rating is well over 100 at range. An airsoft gun's is 1.25-2.5ish from when it leaves the muzzle.
You can play airsoft in a speedball course. You can play milsim paintball. Generally, they have the same goal in mind: shoot the guys on the other team. Can we just say opinions are opinions, and leave it at a draw?
