Plastic bullets my friend. Take out the gunpowder and leave in the primer and bam, you got real gun airsoft. My Dad's Co-worked used to it all the time with his brother.
That sounds like a stupid idea.
Didn't quite know what you meant. Googled 'plastic bullets'. Who would play that game your dad's co-worker and brother played?! You can hardly compare that to airsoft.
A plastic bullet's joules rating is well over 100 at range. An airsoft gun's is 1.25-2.5ish from when it leaves the muzzle.
Not without gunpowder.
You can play airsoft in a speedball course.
You can play milsim paintball.
Generally, they have the same goal in mind: shoot the guys on the other team.
Can we just say opinions are opinions, and leave it at a draw?
It isn't as easy to play MilSim paintball since everybody needs one of those expensive real looking guns. With Airsoft, most guns can be used in all game modes.
Also, the trust factor doesn't count. Just because paintball hurts more (supposedly) doesn't mean that Airsoft doesn't hurt at all. If you see a guy cheating/you are unsure you hit him, keep shooting. Normal hi-caps hold hundreds of rounds. He will feel the pain eventually.
If, in real combat, you shoot a guy and he's still moving, he obviously isn't dead. Would you stop to complain he's cheating war? I'd shoot twice.
Next point, the armed forces isn't always the option for us. We want a cross between real combat and video games, or we're too young, or we don't want to kill or die or both. For those of us, there is always war gaming. And no we don't want real guns due to gun laws or parents.

That post was sarcasm and claiming that paintball players wouldn't play a game because they're too afraid to get their clothes/gear dirty is a retarded argument.

You have never heard of a woodsball paintball gun.
Or camouflage, apparently.
Or magazines.
Not everyone uses magazines though. Not even in woodsball. That's just it.
I've never seen a paintballer wear camouflage. Eh, that's my fault though. I play either airsoft at an airsoft only field, or airsoft at a paintball-airsoft combined CQB field.
Eh, just saw a video. I don't know exactly what you mean by a "woodsball gun" but I just saw a vid of a paintball gun and it was leveled and was shooting a target a 100 feet. Not very good range IMO.

Camouflage peppered with bright watercolors.

I head somewhere they have like massive psuedo wargames for paintballers in America. Is this true?
Any paintball gun can shoot 200-250 ft easily.
Yeah I can throw a ball 300 feet, doesn't mean that it's going to go anywhere I want it to.
Paintball guns aren't accurate at such distances by any stretch of the imagination.
@My never playing woodsball:
Uhm well...duh? I've played speedball and I play airsoft.
@The paintball range:
Well yeah, with some shit spread.
Airsoft
and
Recball, with woodsball theme.

Woodsball is more like arena ball but with semi autos and wooded environments with some camo. That's every single woodsball game I've seen personally.
Where as Airsoft is more tactic/ objective oriented such as. A.) Pickup this recon item and return it to base. B.) Assault the fort/ bunker.
C.) Have a plan to kill every single person you know.
So Halo and MW2?
Didn't I say: tries to be as realistic as possible.
Occuring to MW2 an EMP creates a shockwawe that affects also IN SPACE.
Instead of doing what it really does which is, disables electrical devices.

Airsoft is not a backyard sport. That is clearsoft. We airsofters recognize the difference between speedball and woodsball (or whatever paintball in the woods is). Airsoft is not a backyard sport. Clearsoft is.
If you play clearsoft you wouldn't be on FP, much less argueing paintball vs airsoft. You'd also probably be 10 years old.
Sorry. Clearsoft guns are generally clear but some aren't. It's the $20 guns you buy at Dicks and walmart.
What's the difference between Airsoft and Clearsof then? I just think Airsoft is more backyard. That's the only time I've ever played with Airsoft/Clearsoft guns. I just don't see the point in playing with little plastic guns on a field somewhere, not much fun to me.

If you actually spend the money to buy good guns and get into a good event, you can spend your whole day on an actual military base, driving around in HMMWVs, being part of a fireteam, taking orders from a commander, etc.
Its much more fun than playing in your backyard.

What is up with you people and trolling nowadays? I'm not trolling i'm being an ass, there's a difference.

Why would you put that much into something like this? I mean, Paintball can be expensive too, don't get me wrong, but its worth it. I don't see the attraction to the whole military thing either. I'm there to have fun shooting my friends, not to enter the military.
It's amazing how these threads continue to be made, and people continue to argue when the simple answer is "it comes down to personal preference". Some prefer the game mechanics of paintball, and others prefer airsoft.

It's called a action shot. You take off your mask/goggles before the game starts to get a badass picture as seen.

I put so much money into it because its a great hobby and its fun, so in my mind (and as a former paintballer) I feel that the investment is totally worth it.
As for the military attraction? I suppose that's mostly taste. Being a gunfag/guy who could name a tank on sight (inb4 "get laid nerde"), I enjoy being able to ride around in a HMMWV turret shooting at guys dressed as insurgents (Or dressing as an insurgent and blowing up a HMMWV with a LAW, and watching an entire enemy convoy come to a grinding halt, that's fun too).
Though the Army does sort of allow us to play with their toys as a recruitment tool, they put no pressure on you to join or anything, they have as much fun as we do.

As I said before, airsoft isnt better than paintball, and visa versa. They both just happen to be wargames that allow you to shoot at your friends in differing environments. Want to have some fast paced action in a small arena doing capture the flag in more sport-like environment? Play paintball. Want to drive around in HMMWVs on a military base and get into large scale battles while utilizing team tactics and a command structure? Play airsoft.
