they're both for creepy gross nerds, cowabunga! *does a backfilp outta hear*
Just making an arguement anti-both is that you can get a real gun for the price of an airsoft.
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-KA-SG556-BLK.htm SIG 556 $549.99 AIRSOFT
http://www.impactguns.com/store/798681415892.html SIG 556 $469.99 by SIG and is .22
I rest my case that airsoft guns are retarded.
Then why the fuck did you ask for advice about selecting an airsoft gun on the sub-forum?
Shooting and target practice with a Paintball gun is a lot funner than Airsoft. Sure firing my TM P90 and revolver is fun, but the recoil and noise produced by a paintball gun makes it much more enjoyable. Not to mention that the paintballs have a more destructive force on your target, since they have more mass.
Gas Blow Backs are your friends.
I think paintball is way more fulfilling, and just about the same price as airsoft.
We've already established that Airsoft and paintball don't cost the same. AIRSOFT is CHEAPER. How much do you pay for a bucket/can/whatever of paintballs? I pay 300 pesos (roughly 3 pounds or 6 dollars) for a bag of 5000 BBs. I don't have to pay for gas either thanks to my AEG and AEP being electric.
We both were wearing Safety Goggles.
I was trying to prove that they did infact hurt, not the otherway around.
The second line about 500 FPS was directed at paintballers saying that paintball hurts more and you can't feel anything in Airsoft. Sorry for the misunderstanding. My field has a 450 FPS limit but only because it's CQB. Knowing that there are two holes in the back of my vest caused by 330 FPS isn't very reassuring.

Atleast we don't spend 500 dollars on a decent uniform.
In Australia we dont have Airsoft, just Paintball.
This is my Babe:

It weights over 650 grams and fire 6mm bb's at 160 meters per second. It costs one reload to fire this weapon... ...one time. But hell, it's fully metal, cheap and safety switch, grip safeswitch and slide stop is fully functional!
I know this Jew fag who paintballs. What a Jew bastard.
Oh btw, Airsoft > Paintball because you don't feel like you're playing with water pistols.

You feel like you're playing with a water pistol when you paintball? They shoot paint, what's wrong with you?
Atleast we don't spend 500 dollars on a decent uniform.
Neither do we. My MARPAT replica uniform cost me around 15 British pounds or 30 American dollars. Aside from that, the rest of my uniform (or BDU) cost less than 20 dollars. 500 my ass.
I live in Canada, and air-soft is WAY cheaper than paintball.

Wow, this totally looks like a sniper rifle and it's definitely not inspired by a game.
It says it's a sniper rifle... IT HAS 2 SCOPES, THEREFORE IT HAS TO BE GOOD!
:v:
WHERE'S THE CHAINSAW?!
Ontopic: How can you find this anywhere near nice?

Wait, what was the question again?
Anyway, what does pain have to do with the game?
IMO, if im playing something like airsoft or of the like, I want guns that look like guns, and not toy lookalikes that shoot paint.
I've done all three and I can safely say that I enjoy airsoft more than paintball. Good guns are cheaper, ammo is far less expensive, and you can really get an accurate replica for around 100 bucks. I like that I can actually aim and hit people, and that it is not about luck.
[editline]10:34AM[/editline]
But I get more of a rush from paintball.
Wow that made me sigh. First off your spelling. For an '05 I expected better.
What does being an "05er" have to do with spelling?
Now you made me sigh
Atleast we don't spend 500 dollars on a decent uniform.
We choose to do that though. I wore a basic woodland to a forrested game over these last two days and my friends said they saw my mask before they saw the rest of me, and the other only saw me from 20 feet away because I shifted.
You don't need to, but we choose to because it's better.
And what do you mean decent? You can hardly call paintball jerseys decent. That's fugly as shit. I could spend less than $50 on a flecktarn BDU and it'd be awesome, not only that but incredibly effective in my area.
Atleast we don't spend 500 dollars on a decent uniform.
Completely voluntary, you could go out and spend $20 on a set of US woodland camo and do just fine.
I for one happen to collect odd camo uniforms, so yeah, I might spend 3 times as much on a uniform as a paintballer. But again, that's completely voluntary.

Completely voluntary and because Timebomb's cool like that.
I play paintball, but airsoft looks really fun, and I'd like to try it, can anyone suggest a good starter gun?

We have a whole new-guy thread on the airsoft custom forum.
Holy shit awesome. This is the kind of thing that makes me think we need front page custom forums back.

Budget?
Preferable gun model? (mp5, m4/16, ak47)
My budget would probably be around 200-250 because I wouldn't be buying until later this year, and I don't really have a preferred gun model.

Thats more than enough for an excellent starter gun. Do you have a certain position/goal in mind? Like, do you want to just have a gun to plink with, or do you want to have a specific role in a larger scale game, like a designated marksman or a grenadier?
Everyone should start as a rifleman.

Would you be needing everything to start? or just the gun for 200-250.
Also, do you want any gear?
If I was just buying the gun it's 200-250ish, if it's everything it's more likely going to be up to 400-500.

You probably couldn't go wrong with an M4 from a good brand. It comes with room to upgrade and with the rail system on the front you could put countless attachments on it.
Yeah a M4 is a great starter gun. G&G makes great M4's but I'm also a fanboy. The CA M15 is really good I heard too.
Paintball is funner in my opinion. It hurts a lot more!
