i don't notice many differences tbh, even for a console version
Well it's 360p.
wait my browser is fucked thanks opera
are the physics locked back to 30fps again? i can't tell in the video
i wish more remasters were like the cod4 remaster
This is a huge letdown, I'm incredibly sad to say.
They should have just remade it from the ground up in UE4. Yeah it would take a lot longer but they would know exactly what they're remaking.
Also I swear they get people who have never played video games before for these official gameplay videos.
Also at 18:45 you can see the AI is still fucked. Splicer looks directly at the wall before 180ing to run.
Time for all those people that shat on infinite to go back and remember that bioshock one wasnt a masterpiece either. Its really good but playing on hard is genuinely a miserable experience.
This doesn't look all that much better than the original.
looks exactly the same to me.

I've only ever played it on hard and it is one of my favorite games ever, so... :v:
(I like Infinite too though.)
Sure it doesn't looks considerably different, but the game is still quite gorgeous to this day regardless, so any improvements no matter how minor are just icing. Remember, they are selling all three Bioshocks in one bundle which pretty good value, It's not like you are buying only one barely remastered game for $60 USD.
Shame they didn't get to the part with Tenenbaum yet, I need to know if they changed her model
What's supposed to be the "remastered" part? I dunno man even though it's free for already owners this still feels like a cheap cashgrab. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the game gets more recognition because it really is a good story, but to call this a remaster is a fucking stretch.
It sounds like they didn't even fix the audio glitches the original release had. The SMG sounds keep cutting out and the audio balancing is a mess
Looks like its basically a high res texture pack for the original game, with some small additions here and there.
Also the particle effects did not get downgraded, I played the game recently and they were always that bad.
Lipstick on a pig for some of these sequences if you ask me.

man i usually don't like responding to stuff like this but what the fuck are you talking about seriously
even with vita-chambers turned off Bioshock is one of the most liberally giving shooters ever made
hard + no vitachambers is the only way to give the game even remotely any challenge, it at least makes fighting the Big Daddies kind of tense
One comparison picture I saw had a Little Sister missing their environmental lighting to appear more like they had rim lighting in the Remaster which made her body glow in the dark, and some candles in the background just gave the middle finger to the atmospheric lighting and looked fullbright. Not sure where it came from, though, probably a comparison video by one of the channels that do that thing.
the only real reason to get this is to be able to play them on new consoles, that's it really. seems like most companies are doing that because of the backwards compatibility thing (also $$$)
if you can't notice differences it's because you either have cancer of the eyes or just don't remember what the game looked like since it was so long ago

it's a fairly good touch up and looks much better, but not Serious Sam Classic -> HD better, which imho is what I'd prefer

It looks way fucking better than the Batman remaster

where the remaster literally looked worse

it looks good, yes, but 'even to this day' is really stretching it. it was amazing for its time but even a game like Far Cry 1 and half life 2 shows its age at some point. Especially when we have games like Dark Souls 3 and GTA 5 and Witcher 3 and DOOM etc (I understand that Witcher 3 is an unfair thing to list however, as they sacrificed the souls of a thousand orphan children so that the game would be as good as it would be)

If you're a little cry baby boy...
This game was my life when I was like 14. Hard was fun.

or Halo 2 anniversary. The original version that functions on modern hardware properly, and a pretty and aesthetically controversial version that can be turned on and off at anyone's lesiure.
Honestly I think the remaster cleaning things up in terms of resolution and overall quality is great, but the lighting / graphical changes where they aren't just higher res differences aren't my cup of tea.
the only difference i noticed is that there are more seaweeds in the ocean now
Thanks for the comparisons J!NX. I also believe that some people here must have something in their eyes for not seeing the huge differences. Bioshock 1 has aged okay, but the remaster looks definitely better.
The only thing I noticed that was not so good was the missing light reflexion in the water in the opening sequence of Bioshock 1.

That would be a remake though and not a remaster.

its so easy for someone to forget that for its time, bs1 was really one of a kind
just like how literally every game that's ever released has aged and now doesn't look as good as it did when nostalgia glasses cannot apply because people were ACTUALLY amazed at it. Just look at Morrowind. it looks like shit and plays like absolute piss. But fuck me. For its time, it was the witcher 3 of its day. There wasn't anything it. it blew the water itself away it was so huge. Does it today? no. But same thing for BS1. In its time, it was a big deal. Today? there's better shooters out there.

I agree the shape of the octopus that shows up makes my autism act up as well
[editline]31st August 2016[/editline]
thankfully it only shows up for 2 seconds
I feel like updating certain things like the lighting and textures have brought out some of the flaws the original game had that you may not have noticed before, causing it to show its age.

The textures have def got a boost, even in the PC version. They added a bit more detail to areas too. Especially the floors. Some areas have carpet now when before it was just tile or wood.
So basically, they changed up some of the textures and added some extra details in some places. Also toned down the specular lighting on most materials. Not sure how much I like the look of that, but I can admit that everything was overly shiny af in the original. In the end the remaster still looks like a game from ~2009, but at least it's a free upgrade.
Also, it drives me nuts when they always release console footage, complete with really shitty texture filtering. Makes it really hard to compare to the original with 16x AF when all the textures are blurred up.
