Yes useful skills like how to fashion yourself a makeshift hockey stick and slavage materials from exotic plants to create a substance similar to maple syrup eh

Our military doesn't treat our soldiers like cannon fodder. Hell, it's in our creed to never leave someone behind.

Your doing this country a great service, and for that, I thank you.

He went for training, you over-patriot.
He went for training, you over-patriot.
It's not what he has done that matters, it is what he is willing to do.
Loving all the dumbs from the angsty mouth-breathing neckbeards. Against anything American because it is cool.
Congrats!
It's not what he has done that matters, it is what he is willing to do.
Then he should write it better. Because 'doing' assumes he is currently serving america.

The boxes are probably because of his :smug: attitude and condescending post.
OP I'm well jealouse of you

Someone knows their Warrior Ethos. :colbert:
I respect what you did fully, but you do not know what it is to be a soldier just from basic combat training.
Doesn't change the fact that he did something 90% of the Facepunch users would never have the balls to pull off.
Then he should write it better. Because 'doing' assumes he is currently serving america.
He IS doing the country a service by joining the military.
He is offering up his time, and possibly his life (Hopefully it doesn't come to that). I'd say that is "Doing a great service for your county".

That is a terrible generalization.
I never meant any disrespect by what I said (I hope he realizes this), I was just saying that you don't know what it is to be a soldier until you have been through actual duty.
Congrats.
Good luck getting blown up by insurgents/revolutionaries/Iraqis/Afghans/Pakistanis/Russians/etc.
I read this in the most baddass voice I could think of. You sound like a proud man, and I salute you for being so happy as you are now.
Can I have your PS3 if you don't survive?
Front leaning rest position....mooooove!
Congratulations. Basic was a blast, in a "break you into nothing and rebuild you" sort of way.
Did you get to use UMT (I theenk) rounds for training, or did you just have to fire blanks and yell bang! bang! when you ran out? A lot of my buddies here at Ft. Huachuca said they got to train with wax rounds. I feel like I got gypped out of a lot of fun. On the plus side, I got really good at shouting bang! bang!
Have fun at AIT, (fellow) Private.
everyone can do basic training, i will congratulate you if you can endure the training the Russian Spetsnaz.

Lol.... please...
Wait till you go to your unit. Hopefully you don't get assigned to a shitty command.
So you were at Fort Jackson. What is your MOS?
I was in OSUT(which is a combo of BCT/AIT) at Fort Knox back in 2008, I'm an 19k.(M1A2 Abrams Tank Crewman)
EDIT:
Also you aren't a fucking bad ass.
i envy you. totally.

He never said he was, he said he felt like it.
Completing something like that entitles you to a little self-empowerment.
Holy shit I can run like a 4th of a mile and do about 6 pushups
Cool, you have my respect!
[editline]08:25PM[/editline]
I hope I will do this in a few years
For how long about did you prepare for the physical portions? Guess my question doesn't apply if you've always been as fit as they require.
I missed you :3:
Two and a half months. that's how long I've spent sitting in the broiling hell that is Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
2 and a half months? Are you fucking kidding me? And thats optional?
Here in Finland every man has to go trough a 9-12 months long basic training, and its not optional.
I guess that explains why finns are always for some reason imagined to be some kind of bear fighting angry drunks.

I believe it's the same with the Swiss. There's a lot of countries in Europe that do that, afaik.
