Running 4 miles isn't that hard. Unless you run 20 pound equipment, then it is.
Being able to do that stuff would be great but... 1. I don't feel responsible or loyal to any country or government, and thus have no want to do anything for my country. 2. I don't like being told what to do. 3. I don't want to get shot at. 4. I don't need to be in the army to be physically fit.
If I didn't have Celiacs' disease, I would be following you in a few years. Kind of a dissapointment for me, my family has a long history of Military service. At least I can still join the Police. Protect and Serve!
I believe it's the same with the Swiss. There's a lot of countries in Europe that do that, afaik.
I think its called conscription, and yeah, lots of European countries do that. That system is pretty outdated nowadays though.
Good man. Stay safe out there.
Try the British Infantry training
Good for you, welcome back. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

ITT: People boast about how their countries basic trainings are harder than OPs when in actuality nobody gives a flying fuck. Congrats, OP. I'm happy for you.
Welcome back!
It's always better to read how someone got back from training than someone signing up.
Basic Training isn't that special, sound's like you're bragging if anything. Doesn't every US soldier have to pass through basic training? Any who, welcome back I suppose.
No, it is optional. Even if it weren't, that wouldn't make it any less significant.
Basic training is optional? The fuck is this shit?
Basic training is optional...? Eh.. I'll still probably do it when I sign up next year.
Prestiged!
I highly doubt you could save me or anyone here with something like a needle as well as the fact I suspect you don't have the guts to kill another human being.
I highly doubt you could save me or anyone here with something like a needle as well as the fact I suspect you don't have the guts to kill another human being.
what needle
I can save your life with a tourniquet and a roll of gauze, field strip

I highly doubt you could save me or anyone here with something like a needle as well as the fact I suspect you don't have the guts to kill another human being.
Oh shit man, you're hardcore. I hope that in my life I become half as lawless and ripped as you.
Congrats on making it through. I'm up at Seymour Johnson AFB fixin F-15E's. You're not too far from where I am. But once again congrats and good luck.
Front leaning rest position....mooooove!
Easy. Try holding Count One of the Squat Bender for thirty minutes with an M16A2 Rifle held out directly in front of you. Fun shit. One of my drill sergeants had a fun game with that; last person in Count One to drop his rifle last got a frozen Popsicle. Fun times. :v: [editline]05:40PM[/editline]
Congratulations. Basic was a blast, in a "break you into nothing and rebuild you" sort of way. Did you get to use UMT (I theenk) rounds for training, or did you just have to fire blanks and yell bang! bang! when you ran out? A lot of my buddies here at Ft. Huachuca said they got to train with wax rounds. I feel like I got gypped out of a lot of fun. On the plus side, I got really good at shouting bang! bang! Have fun at AIT, (fellow) Private.
We used blanks here at Ft. Jackson, a lot of screaming BANG! when you ran out. Several training exercises we had live ammunition to play with though.
So that's where you were lol. [editline]02:02PM[/editline] Four miles? I can run a mile.
I can drive a mile
I'm joining the British Army around this time next year. Training is around 9.5 months for us. In the year leading up to it I'm trying (And succeeding) to get fit. Get £3000 after training and I'm gonna blow some of that on having a massive pissup. Then it's off to Afghanistan or Germany or maybe plain rainy old England. Good luck man!

Congrats, OP! Nice to have ya back :) Tell us more about the training, like, the funniest thing that has happened to you?? or the worst?? That way we'll have a better picture of what you endured over the last months
Congrats man.
...eating Burger King...
[editline]11:27PM[/editline] Just kidding though, congrats.
I'm leaving for AF Basic in about a month, maybe I'll run into you once I'm out of schooling.
You've done me proud.
