My MOS is 25Q, Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator/Maintainer. Basically, I operate and maintain communications equipment in the field. I'm kind of looking forward to it, it'll get me out to a combat zone and in the field. The only thing I kind of don't like about it is the fact that that it's hard to get past E5 Sergeant in this particular field.
Yo! Fellow 25 series here! The 25Q job is pretty quiche. I work with a few myself. And to the contrary once you get to your next duty station, you will work well outside your MOS. I found myself doing a lot more Signal MOS jobs. And including doing combat patrols with Stryker Armored Vehicles. If you like sand, wet red clay, and fire ants, you will LOVE Fort Gordon. You will come to love Barton Field. The PX there is also nice, the Knife guy is pretty cool. But Once you get the chance, GO OFF POST! Don't be a barracks rat. Washington Rd. offers alot to do, Smokers Lounge, Hooters, Rhinehart's Oyster Bar(Highly recommended). The mall is also good. Remember the 3 R's! Right Place! Right Time! Right Uniform! See you on the Flip Flop!
Where I stand, I can save your life with a tourniquet and a roll of gauze, field strip and reassemble a half dozen different military weapons, in the dark with a gas mask on, and run four miles flat out without tiring. I know how to navigate woodland terrain equipped with just a compass and a map and the clothing on my back, how to make a harness for rappelling out of an eight foot length of rope, and how to save my skin during a chemical attack. I can march ten miles or more with an eighty pound rucksack on my back and another thirty pounds of gear attached to me, nonstop with few or no breaks. I can hit a target with the ironsights of an M16 from three hundred meters away with a strong cross-breeze. But most of all, I now know what it means to be a U.S. soldier. The Soldier's Creed. The Seven Army Values. Countless other bits of relevant information. I know it all by heart and live by it.
But can you see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
C company? so goddamn close to B(ad)Company
C(ool) company
So how was basic training? I want to someday join the army as a paratrooper or the airforce doing something... I don't know what the airforce does other than pilot/fix planes. So tell us your basic training stories, you best/worst moments, your highest and lowest esteemed moments, the most memorable times, the most horrible times, whether you were nervous when you started or thought you could succeed, then your feeling toward the end. I would love to hear! I sent you a PM on an alt but he is banned for a week. [editline]07:19AM[/editline] [tab]also this thread is now diamonds [/tab] [img_thumb]http://www.sierraexpressmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/diamonds.jpg[/img_thumb]

Was the Sergeant there telling you to do everything too? He kept shouting my name, making me risk my live over and over so I could pop some stupid green flares for his wife or some shit
:colbert:
If it makes you feel better it wasn't a joke.
If it makes you feel better it wasn't a joke.
The whole point of training is to build your confidence so that your whole scenario doesn't happen. More like "JIMMY LETS FLANK THOSE BA-hurk-STARDS so... oh those motherfuckers are gonna get it now!" [editline]08:14AM[/editline] Good work, I'm promoting you to cpl and presenting you with a purple heart and a silver star for your bravery, thank you for your service to our country, cpl.

Posthumous medal of honor for everyone.
Word to your training OP, you have my respect. People can think whatever they want about why we are out there, but the reasons aren't the fault of the soldiers. I mean, that's how I see it at least.
