Take that job and start re-applying to places once you have it. It's so much easier getting a job when you are already employed for some reason. It's like putting down "employed at ___" on your job application is the magical secret words to finding a job. Plus it's money for the short term which is incredibly important.
This, plus what Zeke said. Don't freak out. [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] Best of luck, OP! :)
This seriously sucks man, I hope you can pull through and everything, sell some tat and whatever you have, every bit of change helps.
I thought we banned these kind of threads after everyone was scammed by that one fag that we tracked down in a matter of hours.
mips never asked for money though
mips never asked for money though
"Before I wave the white flag and spend the next god knows how many years in my parents basement I would at least like to fire a flare off and see if Facepunch can help. " Someone might take it as an implication for monetary assistance.
I read it more as an emotional assistance request, but I do see what you mean [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] besides, OP has been here long enough that I don't think he'd scam the place anyway (especially since we all know his first name and location, and mods have his IP address, all enough to pinpoint who exactly it is) though of course he may end up being another MUFC
I'd take the job at Costco. Granted it's not great, but it might hold you over til you find a more permanent solution.
hold down the fort

Bryanrocks: I'm not asking for money. I can make some by doing odd jobs but the problem is that it isn't enough to get by. Unfortunately I can not profitably sell my computers off to make money. If that was the case I would of not lost my job selling similar systems.
Do you really need that car? As far as I know having a car hurts the wallet a lot.
I can and have reduced a lot of my inner-city travel from driving to taking the SkyTrain. $2.50 gets you anywhere in Vancouver and the ticket is valid for an hour and a half. The car however becomes necessary when other things happen like I'm asked by my old boss to move my shit out of the crawlspace, or to cram it full of stuff so I can get it back to my parents. The reason I do not want to move back in with my parents is because they are in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. Kamloops is awful for jobs. I hate the palce. It's also crawling with similar people in their 20's who finished highschool but never successfully managed to leave town so they end up bagging groceries at the store or dealing crack. On the flipside however I am almost promised a slot on the Wal-Mart night shift (11:45PM to 7AM, because I really need a social life) again but will have to suffer through the harassment of the receiving manager who totally fucking mocked me before I left.
See this nametag? See how it says I have been working here for 25 years? You'll be back. Trust me, you'll be right back here bailing cardboard. They all come back crying like babies.
On the flip side, that $750 paycheck was totally worth the mental torture, even if every morning I wanted to throw myself in the bailer.
Can some one give me the thread about the facepunch scammer? Also, OP: I know a guy who lives in Vancouver and needs a soft-ware designer (he can pay 30 bucks a hour and McDonalds every-week.)
Your an awesome person MIPS, if I had loads of money to give out you would be a happy man right now.
That's a shitty situation. As a fellow vancouverite I feel compelled to help you but I'm not really sure how. If I hear of a tech job from any friends of mine, I'll be sure to pass it on to you. I'd probably even be cool with letting you crash on my couch(things super comfy) if you end up needing it.
Garry should hire you as a GMOD archiver, you could archive all the old mods and old gmod versions and he would pay you a lot probably!
Unfortunately I can not profitably sell my computers off to make money. If that was the case I would of not lost my job selling similar systems.
Profitably? If you mean you won't get what you paid for them, what the fuck does it matter when you're to this point? Any money is better than no money. If you're so desperate to stay where you are and continue life as you have it now, you'll have to do whatever you can to make ends meet. If it means selling prized possessions, they're only things.. Sell them or move back to your parent's, those seem to be your choices at this point if you're unable to land a job. Also, fuck pride and everything else. If you need to borrow money, borrow money. Find a way to scrape together enough to pay the rent and the bare necessities and to hell with everything else. Pay the people back as soon as you have a few spare dollars, a little money as you get it towards your debt should sate anybody and if it doesn't they're an asshole so long as you're not spending it on superfluous shit instead of paying them. Take the job at Costco, any money is better than no money regardless of when the employment ends AT LEAST YOU'LL HAVE A PAY CHECK COMING IN. Apply to EVERYWHERE, what the fuck does it matter if the position is permanent? You need money, find a way to get it. Fast food places and retail jobs are almost always hiring. Any job is better than none. Once you're employed, continue applying to better jobs. Either that or move back in with your parents and go back to Wal-Mart which you seem to so despise everything about, your choice. It's your life, man up and take the fucking reigns. Do what you have to do and get it done, nobody can do it for you.

Seriously owning a car is damn expensive, and you could get a reasonable amount of dosh for selling it.
Fast food places and retail jobs constantly hiring? When's the last time you've actually been outside?
lolu. Did I say constantly? nope. "almost always". They employ high school kids and high school dropouts - more often than not they're shitheads and either get canned or quit because the job sucks. More often than not, there's gonna be a fast food joint or a shitty retail job (anything for warehouses to major outlet stores) hiring within a distance he can readily travel with a train or car
When you have tons of adults desperate for any job and are willing to work for any kind of money they aren't going to be asking for a lot of money, any job is better than no job. Who are you going to hire the inexperienced teen that probably won't put any effort into it or the desperate adult that's been looking for a job for months, has years of work experience, and is going to work hard to keep that job? Hiring an adult doesn't mean you have to pay shit loads of money to someone, the minimum wage isn't limited to teens only.
Minimum wage is lower for teens though.
Move to the UK and become one of the many people here who are far too lazy to even search for a job and get a steady Income for doing fuck all thanks to the government. :( (I'm not insinuating you are one of these people MIPS, I have a very high respect for you. I wish you the very best of luck!)
Damn I do hope that you can get something that will help you out in these troubled times, now I do feel appreciative of what I have now. I think that if you get the night time stocking associate you can report the manager that is giving you shit. Really do you hope that it works out for you MIPS.
Looks like im in the exact same situation.
Look for a job that you can do remotely. I know network administrators are always in high demand.
Always keep calm and you'll figure anything out. Be glad you have a place to go back to.
Why did you just retype what he just wrote?
Sell shit on ebay I made like 500 bucks selling loads of xbox 360 games and my xbox itself along with countless accessories. Sell ANYTHING you don't need but is of good value
do you have any type of criminal record? and would you happen to have first aid training?
do you have any type of criminal record?
what does this have to do with anything?
what does this have to do with anything?
i might have a job for him
You can always sell that Coolsnap camera worth $6,000 (if you can find someone to buy it)
Take the Costco seasonal position. They are NOTORIOUS for hiring on good workers at the end of the seasonal period. Plus they have part time benefits and they pay way more then minimum wage. They are about 500% better then what you have at walmart hands down. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
Minimum wage is lower for teens though.
What kind of backwards rule is that? That is for Canada? In america minimum wage is across the board for all workers.
in England the teenage minimum wage is lower as well, you get a bump when you hit 18
That is retarded, how is a teenage worker any different then an adult worker?
