Motherfucking Daddy Long Legs/Crane flies. These bastards make me scream like a little girl and hide in the bathroom till someone removes them. I can tolerate spiders as long as they are not too close to me, most insects I find unpleasent but can tolerate to some extent, but those crane flies terrify me! I cannot sleep if I know one is anywhere in my flat and I really panic over it.
I am also claustrophobic. Small, enclosed or crowded places make me freak out, to the point where I start getting panic attacks if I don't get out before long. Oddly enough I am alright on planes, except for when they land and everyone is standing in the aisle and blocking it, that gives me this weird feeling of panic like I am trapped...but being up so high in the air with no way out is totally fine, weird.
I have this strange fear of pregnancy too (I'm female so it is relevant), the thought of another human living under my skin and growing so my body changes shape without my control, and it feeds off me through a tube, really freaks me out. It seems really alien and wrong, like a parasite. Since I was quite young I've had nightmares about it. I know this is not a normal view on it but that's how I feel, good thing I don't want kids!
No idea what caused any of these phobias.
I have Escalaphobia (fear of escalators).
It all began when I was about to get on, and I had a brand spanking copy of HALO:REACH on launch day and some McDonalds. I had them both in my hand and nearly fell down, so I had to put my
McDonald's on the one on one of the steps on the escalator and it went all the way down to my Mum, I
was pretty silly yes.
I'm disgusted by bellybuttons, and my greatest fear is people touching mine. Strange, I know, but I've hit friends in the face after they tried poking me there. I don't know why or where it came from, but its there.
Fuck bellybuttons.
Thanatophobia.
I got scared as shit when i see worms, i dont know why. For me they are so fucking scary, it is like a hell to walk on the streets after heavy rains, they are everywhere. When i see dead one i jump away from it, when they are live and moving it is much worse, i guess its called panich attack.
Also I scared about cars a bit, because one just rode over my leg and broke it, sometimes it still hurts.
Worm part seems interesting, hmm. But the leg thing, I guess ruining a natural made leg and fixing it with artificial parts could cause complication.
I'm not extremely afraid of the dark but it does bother me sometimes. Especially sense my senses like to fuck with me and make phantom footstep/movement sounds behind me.
I seem to have the same type of feeling when I'm just walking into the dark, alone, and my minds tells me there is a presence in where I am, just like a ghost who I can't see or hear, interestingly, when I going to sleep, this however, doesn't bother me, well that, or my USB light plugged to a AC to USB power adapter seems to have enough light.
Airplanes.
Fear of some fault on the plane ending your days?
[editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
Oh my god I have the exact same fear. Every time I've been going to the bathroom for the past 10 years I have always checked in the toilet bowl, under the lid, behind the toilet e.t.c. for spiders. It all began when I was 8, I had just taken a shit and I pulled down the lid only to see a huge ass spider sitting there.
As you might guess, I have arachnophobia. Actually, it's not just spiders I fear, but pretty much every insect (with some exceptions like mud-worms and fruit flies). Some insects I just try to avoid calmly while others make me freak out and give me a panic attack, like bees, wasps and spiders.
I also have a slight fear of the dark. It's not as strong as my fear for insects, but for example whenever I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and then go back to my room in darkness, my heartbeat goes up and I usually run to my room, always checking my back instinctively, with a huge relief/burst of happiness once I'm finally in my room and have closed my door.
Its just like the mind decides if that animal should be feared or just ignored, but intensified.
[editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
I used to be afraid that when I lifted up the toilet lid I would find a screaming severed head in the toilet bowl...
The classic prank were you make some dummy thing in a toilet to scare the shit out of someone, one way or the other, but this case, it made a phobia.
[editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
I have a fear of heights. Whenever I look down from a high area, I get very tense for some reason and start to panic.
Every human has that feeling, its just were the mind thinks you might fall, depending on whats keeping you from falling the pavement at 200 Miles Per Hour. But things like this is just were its just over tuned and your minding thinks that you will fall, even theres a fence keeping you from falling. The only time I feel the fear of falling is when I got to get on my dads mobile lift. Something with just one...spring? Leg? Whatever its called, doesn't give you a good feeling, wind not helping on that part, so I just went belly flat and went down.
As ridiculous as it may sound; seaweed (phytophobia).
When I'm out swimming I'll avoid it as much as possible. I don't mind it when dried up on land etc, but I will never swim over it.

I hate it, but I don't think I personally have a phobia for it.
I used to have arachnophobia but I think I've kind of gotten used to spiders after spending my entire life in Australia. I can't get super close to big spiders like the huntsman without wetting my pants but other than that I'm cool with them now.
Well same with a lot of small spiders too I guess but that's really only because those motherfuckers can kill you in 1 bite.
Agoraphobia.
[editline]28th October 2011[/editline]
If you think waiting in a line at a full supermarket is bad, you should be happy you don't have agoraphobia
I think the only weird fear that I can tell the start of was my fear of moths. When I was 11 one landed in the shower with me and got hit by the water, it began struggling against the water and flying in these strange erratic movements before slipping down the drain. Something about that really disturbed me, the way it moved and struggled, ever since then I have been quite creeped out by moths.
Not a full on phobia like my others but still a fear, I still don't know why I am so afraid of Daddy Long Legs (UK meaning).

I freak out upon seeing spiders. Screw you and your slight immunity to them.

Don't worry, I have it too. I think my main reason is the fact that I don't know what I'm stepping on, and the "tickling" feeling is really really uncomfortable for me.
I hate it, but I don't think I personally have a phobia for it.
Yes I don't really get panic attacks etc, but I hate it.
I'm not scared of seaweed I just really dislike the feeling of it
I also have somewhat of a phobia of swimming in the ocean or in lakes where I can't see the bottom.

Yeah that's pretty amazing. Swimming in the ocean, you're in the same water as you are with a whole lot of other organisms. Some magnificent beasts.

For those who know about it.. don't want to see it. Just tell them to google it or something.
Had Astraphobia(thunderstorms) when I was younger, because one day I was in a sports summer camp, when I turned around and saw this ridiculously dark, almost black cloud swallowing the sky, and moving quickly towards us. There was lightning flashing almost constantly from it. We all went into the clubhouse, which was really cramped, and I basically put my hands over my ears, to try to block out the sound of thunder. And basically sat there until it was over.
After that, every time I heard thunder, or something that resembled thunder, I'd have to go inside, but somewhere where the sound would be muted and I wouldn't be able to hear what was happening outside. It got so bad at a point that if I heard a plane, I'd think that it might be thunder, and I'd go inside. I grew out of it eventually, but still, if I'm somewhere miles from any shelter, and I hear thunder, or see a flash, I get a little twinge of dread.
Shit just looked it up on wikipedia and the symptoms there almost exactly matched mine.
What's it called when you're afraid of balloons?

Are you really afraid of balloons or the fact that it may pop at any second?
