I can't do landscapes/scenery/backgrounds for shit, I cry every time I have to.
this is me right now
we should start using this
oh shit has this all really been in the creative drawings thread whoops
Gramps with a staff, some rough puzzle idea which I don't think will go anywhere.
Zombie Paint-can half done, exploring no lines. Could you give me your opinions and ways it can be improved PS: will submit some anatomy practice/more realistic drawing, though it's the most difficult as i've been stuck in a drawing rut recently.
German shepherd puppy and a little sketch dragon. I like the look of no outlines. I do use a few inlines tho, just to kinda define some areas.

It takes a little longer to do, but I like the outcome.
As per request
Yay :v:
I wanted to be in the no lines club
It takes a little longer to do, but I like the outcome.
Yeah, I tried transitioning to lineart in my interactive before, but then it takes too long to update

Help me. Alright, I'm making some sprites for a small game but I think I ran into a minor problem that I can easily fix. I'm trying to animate a bird but the walk cycle is a bit wonky. There's the bird, but if you focus on it correctly, it'll look like he's just tapping his feet, and if you look at it a different way, it actually looks like he's walking. What did you guys see initially? ALSO: Here are the individual frames. The top row is nonsense, the second row is the animated walk cycle above, the third row is a new walkcycle that I whipped up, and the last row is the jumping animation. Here's the second walkcycle. I have all the time in the world, it's sort of a far-fetched project.Do you mean like making the head bob slightly? I can have little feathers flying behind him or something. I don't actually have a way to compile the animation so I have to ask my friend to do it for me so it bogs things down a bit. What do you guys use?
You serious? His stuff is miles better than almost everything in this thread. I'm sick of this "DON'T START WITH A STYLE!!!" bullshit. You don't have to be an anatomy guru to make likeable art and if you disagree you're just covering your ears and going LALALALALALALALAALA. Just start wherever the fuck you want and see where it takes you. To be a great artist you just have to be prolific and experiment; beyond that just do what you enjoy.
I'm apologizing in advance but: You're an idiot.
I'm apologizing in advance but: You're an idiot.
:( I just think it's wrong to say people are bad artists unless they're good at drawing everything exactly as it is, that's all.
:( I just think it's wrong to say people are bad artists unless they're good at drawing everything exactly as it is, that's all.
People are bad artists when they stagnate doing the same thing over and over again and that thing not even being interesting. It's like telling me I'm a good artist way back when the only thing I knew how to draw was women. Way to go...
I think I managed to make the issue less visible. Also: Does my animation crap actually belong here? I'll move out if you guys want me to.

It's like telling me I'm a good artist way back when the only thing I knew how to draw was women. Way to go...
Yeah, I agree with you; my rant was more aimed at people saying you shouldn't start off with a style - I'm definitely not saying you should carry on using the same style incessantly (which admittedly seems what I am saying because of the artist we're talking about...), just that there's nothing wrong with starting with one (albeit a flexible one). I'm really bad at misplacing my rants, sorry. :D [editline]6th August 2011[/editline] in fact I hate ranting in the first place I'm gonna force myself to not do it any more.
God you guys act like I'm not even here I don't get why you keep ripping on me for "OH HURR HE DOES THE SAME THING ALL THE TIME" because honestly I don't. I draw new characters everyday and new scenarios all the time. It's because I draw it so heavily cartoony that you guys keep freaking out about how i dont want to try new things or whatever. You can try new things and keep your art consistent at the same time you know, you're acting like thats such a huge flaw with my art when I think it's one of the best things about it. I can take 2 completely different characters and draw them in the exact same cartoony style regardless of amount of detail or how they were originally drawn. It's not like I'm just drawing the same thing over and over which is what you're making it out to be. GOD
There's a difference between drawing different things in the same style and drawing the same things in the same styles. Yeah, the former isn't as bad, but you're still stagnating. Imagine a guy that draws a ton of different characters and settings in stick figures. In time he gets better at drawing them but he's still stagnated into that style.

(Trust me,I read a book which the author was Scott McCloud, the biggest genius of art ever existed) And if you ask me,the one who is good at drawing and keeps doing the same style should be good enough to make a comic or maybe an animation as well. But of course,it's all to its creator to choose his way of doing its own way.
Everybody has rights to draw what he wants to,the others have no right to argue saying this is shit or something unless they think, they can draw better (most of them only think so)
This isn't true, bad artists can be fantastic art critics
If somebody decide to change its style which he was like drawing the same kind of thing over and over,it could take maybe even YEARS to do that. (Trust me,I read a book which the author was Scott McCloud, the biggest genius of art ever existed)
This is why you're supposed to be a flexible artist, if you're stuck in the same style for ten years it will take twenty to get out of it. It's not bad to draw in the same style, it is bad to only know one style.
And if you ask me,the one who is good at drawing and keeps doing the same style should be good enough to make a comic or maybe an animation as well. But of course,it's all to its creator to choose his way of doing its own way.
That's irrelevant, anyone can make an animation or comic or some kind of product with their style, because they decide their own terms. But if their stagnation causes their product to eventually become mediocre it will show in the reaction of the fans/customers/public. As a ridiculous example, look at the porn artist Zimmerman (huehuehue), he is able to make a product and earn money out of his style, but people hate him because he draws the same balloon breasted woman no matter which character he draws.
(This is not my thing of argue but I need to tell something too) You may got a tiny point, but I have lots of others, for intance let's start with this: "Nobody is perfect" Everybody has rights to draw what he wants to,the others have no right to argue saying this is shit or something unless they think, they can draw better (most of them only think so) If somebody decide to change its style which he was like drawing the same kind of thing over and over,it could take maybe even YEARS to do that. But that was off the point.
Everybody has rights to draw what he wants to,the others have no right to argue saying this is shit or something unless they think, they can draw better (most of them only think so)
Stupidest thing in the world to say. That's like saying someone has no right to tell me my cooking stinks, if they can't even boil water. Of course you can still tell it sucks. And if even WE who are not proffesionals notice this, think of what a proffesional artist might even say! Oh and no ONE person can be the biggest genius of art that ever existed. Among other points that dissprove you: Art is a very general term. Now stop this bafoonery. Of course it's up to him if he wants to continue stinking. I kind of miss the old facepunch. Where this kind of derailing would gets us all days of banns and when flamming wasn't allowed. Alas.
I get artistic now? :v:
i already have a drawing coach that yells at me enough on here
you should probably listen to these people tryin to help a little bit
Woah guys woah, let's try to keep the discussions in the MS Paint general chat, we just said last page that we should bring this to that thread anyways.
we should start using this
I realize it's kind of difficult to control which threads the discussions come up in but come on now.
I think I managed to make the issue less visible. Also: Does my animation crap actually belong here? I'll move out if you guys want me to.
No it's fine, animations are widely accepted here. As for CC: try and make the body bob down when the foot touches the ground, and bob up when he pushes off, but I suggest by only a few pixels since it's such a small animation. I would go in detail more but it's difficult through text so I'll just illustrate it out real quick. I do a bit of animating here and there, but not in MS Paint, hope this helped you.
