I thought the reason the kids' Jack Noir only had one one was because when Join prototyped his kernelsprite or whatever, he used a one armed harlequin doll?
You're missing the point. Chronologically, the trolls' session came before the kids' but some elements from the kids' session became temporally static and ended up in the trolls' session.
I thought it was said that the kid's session was wayyyy before the troll's.

Wow I just realized how dumb I am.
Blar could anyone post that one wallpaper with the horrorterrors and the medium in a bubble?
I can't find the darn thing

Oh wait, are you talking about the midnight crew? My bad, I misunderstood. I didn't read the intermission...
Maybe I'll check it out...
The Midnight Crew is Jack and his minions from the Trolls' session far after the apocalypse. The intermission ends with Spades Slick finding an Sburb terminal.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
The terminal featuring Karkat, of course.

Also referenced by the fact that in some panels of the intermission, you can just catch the green Alternian moon in the sky, and that the mansion is located on the pink moon (assuming because of the slightly pink ground in the alternate universe Die travels to where Slick is dead).

In that timeline and that scene you can clearly see ruins behind Die and he comments how he doesn't want to live in the "ruins of a dead civilization for the rest of his life", so it's most likely a wastelandic Alternia.
Where are my updates Hussie?
:colbert:
Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm absurdly late, but Noir means black right?
Then that means that Jack Noir is actually Jack Black.

Oh god.
And Bill Cosby is really Bill Noir.
TT: A black guy?
EB: oh...
EB: i do not mean like, an african american or anything.
EB: like bill cosby.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
There's just one thing that's been bugging me:
Jack Noir from the troll universe gets a scar on his eye and his arm cut off.
These are the same injuries John's sprite had.
Coincidence? No way.
But how? There must be some kind of connection between the universes we don't know about yet, or I must've missed something.
Callback. And you have noticed JUST NOW?
Whole Homestuck is one giant callback!
The Jacks don't have to be directly related. It's Andrews game. He makes the rules.
There are parallels in seemingly completely unrelated things. It's one of the reasons why it's so awesome. Andrew talked about this way back on his formspring.
He said that he basically builds a library, an inventory, of stylized phrases, scenes, situations... Then he uses them over and over, and that's what makes his work so amazing. I dare to say he's a literal genius. The callbacks he constantly makes make the whole thing seem extremely familiar and consistent all the time.
In contrast with the plot mindfuckery which is often revolting and confusing, there are stylistics which return from before, match apparently unrelated situations, create connections.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
There are so many various callbacks which mostly can't be explained, and they don't even have to be!
For example, the card symbols is a triple callback. They were used amongst Midnight Crew, they are used as symbols of Trolls romance, and the Kids had them on their clothes in their childhood.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
Bro's/Dave's showdown scene. Only short while ago reappeared in [S]Wake. between Vriska and Tavros.

This (lovely) expression

Andrew Hussie is a genius. He deserves public recognition for his works.
Don't forget he doesn't even use post-it notes.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
And I'm quite sure there are just a few other constants on top of the the First Guardians, Frogs, Land of ___ and Frogs, Jack Noir, etc.
Andrew once posted a pic of his homestuck folder containing all the .psd files used. As far as I know he keeps them so he could make a callback to basically everything.
Edit: found them (get ready for freaking huge images)

Well, I'm new to Homestuck, so that's why I only noticed it just now.
So, hi there everyone, I'm new in this thread, and I think Homestuck's pretty awesome. :v:

So, some things are related in story, and some things are related, but not through the story?
Sounds pretty hard to keep track of...

Pretty much. He connects thing even in other ways than the story. He connects them with the phrases, he connects them with the style. He connects the with the feeling of the moment.
You don't have to catch all of it, as it isn't a plot element, but it adds more to re-reads and such.
And by the way, welcome. And enjoy.
Do posts not merge after like 1 hour or something?
Seems like so.
