At the extreme urging of my younger brother I caught up with the updates real fast.
Kanaya being a vampire has been kind of been foreshadowed. Not just her obsession with the "rainbow-drinkers" or whatnot, but she's also active during the day, unlike the other, nocturnal trolls. Basically the usual vampire rules flipped turnways.
