It's a story arc, things have to happen, and sometimes it means characters die. Normally it is part of a story telling device, as in redemption after downfall, sacrifice etc. Like Obi Wan being killed in Star Wars, it's designed to make the reader feel something. It's not bad writing that it has made you all angry, it's supposed to induce emotion. It's entertaining fiction.
Today in fourth block someone said miracles and I immediately looked around in fear. Something is wrong with me.
I thought it made plenty of sense that Equius let himself die the way he did, after everything leading up to that point. He went after Gamzee to protect Nepeta, but even she didn't end up taking priority over their bloodlines. It would be improper for Equius to even touch Gamzee. Everything leading up to his death kept Equius completely in character.

Both are nimble, so this could be a good opportunity to put in some sweet, acrobatic action.
You know, I kind of want Karkat to start insulting Gamzee as much as possible. Sure, Gamzee can kill him with his pinkie finger, but I really, really want Karkat to just go off on the guy. You'd have to think of Gamzee's reaction in this. He considers himself all powerful, and the fact he can't stop Karkat from talking shit to him would be infuriating.
