I bet Feferi convincing the Horrorterrors to glub dream-bubbles for the dreamers whose dreamselves have died will be critical in letting the dead players communicate with the living ones again. We've already seen Feferi do it once; she had no pupils in her eyes, and her sclera were white when we could see her opened eyes, which usually means death. As a ghost, Aradia exhibited the same attributes, but I had always treated Aradia coming back as a ghost because she was destined to play Sgrub, and because of her incredible psionic abilities, which I thought would allow her to come back as a ghost and act in the physical plane, something like a Force Ghost in Star Wars. Perhaps this isn't the case though, and other trolls will come back too regardless of their mental acuity.
I don't see the characters killed coming back to life, as it would cheapen the story, but I don't see them staying out of the story completely either.

You know what the worst part of this is? The kids could never know. Since the trolls can talk to them at any moment in time, they could still talk to Tavros, Feferi, and Kanaya in future updates, as long as their conversations take place in the past by troll perspective. Won't that be a pleasant surprise, if they met up, that people they had been talking to and befriending had died.

I've been in a bad mood all day because of the most recent developments.
It's not that I didn't think Kanaya should have died, it's that it was horribly, horribly executed. Most of it is due to Eridan being such an underdeveloped character, especially since Hussie apparently wants us to believe that he's a genocidal maniac. We're never shown him doing anything even remotely violent except for whaling and dueling with Sollux in MHP. We are told by the narration that he has a "GENOCIDE COMPLEX" which is never elaborated upon beyond making him vaguely racist towards the land trolls. We're just supposed to believe he wants to kill people without ever seeing him take any action that would indicate that desire. I mean, was I the only one who saw Eridan portrayed more as a hopeless romantic with a Napoleon complex rather than a cold-blooded murderer? There are even instances where his hatred is downplayed! Anyone remember this conversation?

Hello sympathy for the one guy Eridan arguably hates more than anyone else. If it wasn't for Eridan's complete lack of development, you could make the argument that what he's just done is completely [i]out[/i] of character.
Besides that to just drop this kind of drama on the audience like it's a spoonful of gruel is just bad storytelling. No set-up, no suspense, just *splat* "here you go, feel sad." It breaks every kind of immersion the audience has in the story because it's an event prefabricated to cause drama in the audience, and it seems wholly artificial. It's like if Romeo and Juliet had ended when Juliet was randomly shanked by Prince Escalus, and the only reason given was "he doesn't like women".
What's even more infuriating is that the other three important murders (besides Feferi and Kanaya's) were almost flawlessly! Aradia killing Vriska brought to an end a cycle of revenge that was months in the making. Vriska indirectly causing the death of John played to her megalomaniacal tendencies as well as her indirect competition with Terezi, both of which have been properly developed. Vriska killing Tavros was a product of her lack of sympathy for him. He had failed to grow when faced with her challenges and she therefore lost respect for him as well as any romantic feelings she might have had. Above all, she has simply had enough time to be characterized as a cruel character.
Hussie's a great writer and I really admire his work, but this is a pretty fucking huge misstep in my opinion.
