Well, it was stated during Hivebent that zombies wander Alternia during the daytime, which is partially why most trolls are nocturnal. Kanaya's lipstick happened to be the perfect weapon for dealing with the undead that would attack her oasis, and her lusus would also provide protection. We're just assuming that Doc Scratch means that deceased trolls become those zombies, and so Karkat should watch his back for the possible two undead trolls that might attack him.
