Yes, they hinted at Gamzee being important and insane and all this, but there's no mention of this super attack he did until now. That is the part I'm just finding extremely hard to think wasn't just a last minute thing that really doesn't fit in the story.

I'm very depressed over his death. To me, he seemed to be the least deserving of death. It tore at my soul...
I liked Tavros, but I'm sad all three of them died, not just Tavros.

Oh, I never meant that the others weren't depressing as well. Kanaya's death especially hurt for multiple reasons.

Kanaya's death really did hurt. Like, we were all so pumped for the hatching of the matriorb! It was going to be awesome! She was helping Jade and it was generally awesome to have the two "of space" talk. Also, I admit I kind of was hoping for Rose to meet Kanaya in the flesh.
So for the only death that's gotten to me is Tavros'.
Sure, I don't like that the others are dead but... Killing Tavros was just low man... He never knew true happiness :gonk:

I really can't disagree, I've been wondering for a long time, did you make it?
Honestly the whole troll deaths thing seems a bit rushed. Andrew seems to be doing this as some last minute antiretcon strategy so that he doesn't have to change something later. It just seemed to happen so fast, with no buildup, to the trolls who needs character development the most.

He has had the story worked out from the start.
The reason vriskas attack was mentioned and not gamzees is that it was the finishing blow, karkat states this in the memo.

Everyone probably did some huge powerful attack in the fight, aradia couldn't have noted them all.

Hussie has stated multiple times that he does not have every detail planned out. He planned the beginning, nlmiddle and end of HS, along with the major details. Small things like Gamzee having a super attack were not planned.
