Hard to avoid a... planet? Moon? Whatever it is, blowing up while you're on it. Pretty sure he only killed the waking ones personally so they couldn't escape.

Tavros doesn't recall his dreamself dying dying, he only says his died because Karkat said so. He was too busy flying around to notice Prospit being destroyed. Maybe he managed to survive.
The only ones we are 100% sure are dead are Karkat's, Feferi's, and Nepeta's.
There's a slim chance Tavros survived, and an even slimmer chance Kanaya survived.

yfw all dreamselves are dead except Nepeta and Feferi's, which were rescued by Aradia after they were attacked.

Clearly this is the most logical and realistic thing that could have happened.
