I was disappointed by Cloverfield.
I think this actually looks pretty good. It's got the Hammer name backing it up, if nothing else.
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
Because it was successful?
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
The original was fantastic, what are you on about
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
Care to explain yourself?
This makes me sad :( remaking perfectly good foreign films just because some lazy fucks can't read subtitles and some greedy bastards want to make more money.
Err. I never understood this attitude. You do realize some of the hollywood greats are infact remakes of foreign films?
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
They have to remake it so people like you who cannot understand foreign movies will understand it.
Err. I never understood this attitude. You do realize some of the hollywood greats are infact remakes of foreign films?
You do realize that the great majority of them are only popular because they are Hollywood movies and don't compare to the originals, right?
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
nice taste in films you have there jk
The original is horrible, why remake it :frog:
The Beetles weren't good, but they're still loved by a lot. Just sayin'. Also;
Ultimately this is a story about love and friendship between a confused young boy and a girl forever trapped in eternal youth. I highly recommend watching the original Swedish version, "Let the right one in". It's slow going, but it's also very endearing. The writer of the Swedish novel and screenplay is also the writer for this American adaptation of the story.
See if you can find it, also that's from IMDB. [editline]06:22PM[/editline] Give you a hint, last sentence.
so if it's even the same writer please tell me what the FUCK the point of making this film is?
This looks pretty good... Definitely have to pick up the original sometime before watching this.
so if it's even the same writer please tell me what the FUCK the point of making this film is?
For like the fifth time, to make money. Hollywood movies get much more exposure. If it's the same writer it shouldn't be terrible but it disgusts me that they're remaking this so closely to the original just to "Americanize" it.
You do realize that the great majority of them are only popular because they are Hollywood movies and don't compare to the originals, right?
Who says they don't compare to the originals? Hell half the films I'm talking about are almost shamelessly identical to the originals. Fistful of Dollars, Magnificent Seven, The Departed, etc. Some would argue that the departed is better than the original film, Internal Affairs.
Who says they don't compare to the originals?
Oh, only pretty much every film critic and people who actually watch both versions. The most recent example I can think of is Dinner for Schmucks which the public liked, but everyone who knew the original, Le Dîner de Cons, agreed that the original was better.
Just got back from it. really enjoyed it just like I did the original. Nice to finally see a quality horror remake.
Just got back from it. really enjoyed it just like I did the original. Nice to finally see a quality horror remake.
How was the ending compared to the Swedish one?
The novell was fucking awesome. I remember not being able to put it down til' I had read it all. One of the best swedish books I've ever read.
It was the same ending. Not a lot was changed really. Only thing that annoyed me were the instances of shitty CGI for when abby was bouncing around and killing people. The movie also opens differently, starting with a flash forward to when the guy had dumped acid on his face and was going to the hospital. We see bits from this and then the movie starts. [sp]Also the pool slaughter bit, all the bullies get killed.[/sp] It's been awhile since I've seen the original. Reading the plot description it looks like they changed some stuff with [sp]who abby turns into a vampire and who then tries to kill her at the end.[/sp]
BETTING $500 THAT SHE DOES SOMTHING ERROTIC! Anyone else?
Also saw the movie I thought it was really good for a remake a lot of scenery but there was some things that were confusing.
Will there be sparkles? Edit: I haven't seen the film yet, Btw.
Was the castrated vagina in the remake?
The vampire was a eunuch, a male not a female. Eli, the vampire as per book and the original movie, is castrated prior to becoming a vampire.
This makes me sad :( remaking perfectly good foreign films just because some lazy fucks can't read subtitles and some greedy bastards want to make more money.
Case in point, the abomination that was the American re-make of Taxi.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, it is actually pretty good. But for some reason I seriously don't trust RT anymore that much, so I'll just have to see it for myself.
Read somewhere that this movie makes it more obvious that [sp]the old guy is Eli's old lover than the original, but he's actually just a peadophile.[/sp]
This makes me sad :( remaking perfectly good foreign films just because some lazy fucks can't read subtitles and some greedy bastards want to make more money.
OH NOOOOOO dont you hate when people wanna remake it so people know about this movie (COUGH)Godzilla(COUGH)
OH NOOOOOO dont you hate when people wanna remake it so people know about this movie (COUGH)Godzilla(COUGH)
There are some cases when the remake is doing the original movie a favor when the remake is complete shit and everyone will rave on about the original movie, but when no one has not even heard or seen the original, which they are not even bound to do unless you watch it from the internet or order it, it is putting up a bad name. But any publicity is good publicity, right?
