Haven't not seen the original yet, this adaptation (read: NOT A REMAKE, and adaptation of the original book, unrelated to the first movie) was really good. Certainly a breathe of life into the dying, if not already deceased, horror genre in modern film (if you can call it horror. It covers more than just that).
I remember going to see the original, expecting a good vampire movie. I left disappointed that I had wasted money on it.
saw it a week ago, liked it. decent watch.
Way better than the Swedish version. Chloe is a great actress.
i was pissed when they remade [REC] into quarantine
american directors have actually 0 creativity

It was without a doubt the best vampire movie ever, although it wasn't all that much about vampires.

No, this is definitely a remake. I saw both versions, and a lot of the dialogue is exactly the same in both films. Scenery tends to be really similar, and some camera shots are nearly identical.
The biggest difference is that this movie got a little more creative with the photography.
I was right there with the mob of people thinking a remake of a two-year-old movie was a fucking dumb idea, but this is actually a solid remake. It's every bit as good, if not better, than the original. The trailers for the first one made it look like it was going to turn the story into a shitty slasher movie full of murder and gore, but it was nothing like that.

Why are you guys getting so asshurt over us Americans remaking a Foreign movie? Shouldnt you be happy that there are "2" versions of your favorite movie done correctly!?!?!?!
