SL is a complete sandbox where people can do anything they imagine. So everything you see in the game can be a reflection of someones thoughts/desires/creativity. It's not SL that's weird, it's humanity.

A lot of people use it to express creativity in the same way somebody could paint, draw, create flash animations or whatever. For me I used to do videos. Amazing video, I lost it at the end. Reminds me of a media class in college I took in 2006 with this teacher that was OBSESSED with SL. I swear one of his classes was like an advertisement for SL, and he had this elaborate presentation. It described it with the same type of mid-90s hype as you remember with such buzzwords as"VIRTUAL REALITY" , "CYBERSPACE", and "MULTI-MEDIA". It was hard to take seriously when there was a video of a flyby describing virtual shops and then to the edge of the screen seeing this anthro with tits the size of basketballs. Many years later I had an acquaintance who suggested I try it when I was first getting into 3D modelling and said I could make money. I got as far as launching it when my graphics card shot up to 98C and it ran like a slideshow. I decided it was in my best interest to not risk a house fire. Funny thing was that same computer could run BF3... As strange as SL is, I do actually like the concept but the execution and reality is quite different. One interesting thing from a long time ago was a friend who was into Worlds.com and Activeworlds which looked pretty interesting. I hear nowadays they are now places of nightmare-fuel.
