CS:GO NEEDS to have surf. Any Source game is just not right without it.
Oh god, the chicken monster at the end.
uh no, surf is about knowing exactly where to go, as smooth and as fast as possible.
These are some examples of some great surf maps and surfers:

And while Im throwing surf videos in here, I've even made a couple surf maps for TF2.

Surf is way more fun than the actual games IMO, it's the only thing I can really play. The combat-surf and trick-surf parts are just stupid though, skill-surf is the best.
That shit looks harder than hell to do.
Surf is so pointless though. It's like Jailbreak. There's absolutely no point to it and anyone who spends their time doing it should just kill themselves because it'll be less of a waste of time
i agree with you on jailbreak but surf can be fun
if you guys are wondering even if the command doesn't get added into the game someone who uses sourcemod will just add the command

doesn't work that way at all
they've literally rewritten the movement code
[editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
And nah, I'm glad they've changed the movement code for this game specifically to kill off these things. I'll tell you what should have happened by now, though. A group of modders should have come around and themed and entire new game off the concept of "surfing" in Source games.
You keep the original "feel" of surfing (the movement style and controls), but do something like drop in a "futuristic" environment like a strangely designed city and use that as the foundation for levels. Instead of players' animations awkwardly stuck in stand-stance, introduce something like suits that allow humans to wall-ride at super fast speeds, or give them rollerblade-esque footwear to justify being able to accelerate at such speeds and maneuver in the way they do.
Keep the multiplayer gamemode "surf" available for old Source players, but introduce new things like tricks, being able to flip or something of that sort every time you gain air. Keep in weaponry if you're killing off people while surfing.
This is the type of road this sort of gameplay needs to take. It shouldn't be forever awkwardly injected into a game where it doesn't belong other than due to movement code in CS, and stock Source code allowing for it.
[editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
It reminds me of people using Infiniminer to build which wasn't what it was designed for at all, and then Minecraft came along.
lol'd at the chicken clusterfuck
Along with not being able to surf, people are also not able to Bhop. CS is much more fun when you can bhop and surf.

Tribes: Source
I'm a long time surf player(and tribes player) and I gotta say if you like surf maps you should try tribes ascend, it's very much alike, just optimized for combat
this is a useless peace of shit
(User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - Craptasket))
this is a useless peace of shit
Really? Because in my opinion a peace between the different kinds of shit is pretty useful.
This should be a separate game, just saying
Surf never appealed to me. But hell, if people like it, they should add it.
This should be a separate game, just saying
Why?
I'd rather pay for 1 game to play all kinds of different, fun gamemodes rather than paying for all of them seperately.

Source mod? Go the TF2 route and make it f2p with aesthetic market?
Aw man I spent a lot of hours on lowgrav RPG surf maps. It was like a completely different game. Zombies were also... interesting.
I hope Valve doesn't fuck up the mod support with this one like they - apparently - did with L4D(2). It greatly increases the longevity of their games, and a healthy community attracts considerable sales even years after release.
surfing and glass maps actually got me into CS:S. Would be sad if this wouldn't be added :(

Ah man, I've been in love with Nujabes for so long but I didn't know anyone else listened to him. It's making me happy seeing his music being put to good use.
I'm sure Zombie Mod will also be in, that's all I play at the minute.
Any word about bhop?
If Valve doesn't add this I will be sad.
This should be a separate game, just saying
You do realize surfs only requirement is sv_airaccelerate 100
sv_airaccelerate has been in every single valve game except dota 2 because it cant make use of it.
So why remove it? It shouldn't be a separate game at all.

As a surfer and part time mapper, those maps are fucking beautiful, why do all servers use the shitty 10 year old maps that use default CSS textures and are all blocky and shit, I absolutely love the sleek grey blue white scheme on these.
Surf is great, it could be a game in its own right
sv_airaccelerate isn't in TF2 neither, but you can enable and change it through some admin plugins, same will go for CS:GO
So don't worry
I absolutely love skill surf maps, even though I'm not very good it's great fun learning the course and trying to better yourself.

God forbid games are played in different ways. Who cares about modding anyway?
I kind of think you've missed the point anyway. Why can't surf just "be"?
i dont know how to surf :(
Trust me, when you start to learn, surfing is incredibly fun.
It just takes some time and practice like CS and TF2 themselves.
I still remember starting out on surf_10x_final and surf_japan, good times
hey uh i am a surf mapper (surf_the_distance surf_christmas surf_fruits surf_vegetables surf_1day surf_ghost_busters and many more) and i can safely say that sv_airaccelerate is in csgo
you'll just have to sm_cvar it when sm gets released for it
