How do you actually get a key to get into the beta?

play counter strike a lot
hey uh i am a surf mapper (surf_the_distance surf_christmas surf_fruits surf_vegetables surf_1day surf_ghost_busters and many more) and i can safely say that sv_airaccelerate is in csgo

You've certainly left a mark, on a lot of advanced servers it's not possible to go a map without someone nominating fruits/vegetables for rtv
God forbid games are played in different ways. Who cares about modding anyway?
I kind of think you've missed the point anyway. Why can't surf just "be"?
A dedicated surf mod or game could get special attention. Gameplay can be improved, animations can be improved.
Kind of like Kreedz Climbing

Hey I remember surf_fruits
I loved it the most because of how colorful it was. :v:
I still remember starting out on surf_10x_final and surf_japan, good times
Starting out? Lol that's where I started and ended.

sv_airaccelerate isnt in the cvarlist in cs:go.
edit: Apparently its hidden in TF2 also but you can still change it the way Kwaq said. I hope it will be the same for CS:GO

You have solely cost me 2 keyboards, thanks
I used to play Surf quite often, i hope we can do it in CS:GO. I was never good at it though, the only map i can remember doing well in was some sort of Austin Powers map.

Best map ever.
doesn't work that way at all
they've literally rewritten the movement code
[editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
And nah, I'm glad they've changed the movement code for this game specifically to kill off these things. I'll tell you what should have happened by now, though. A group of modders should have come around and themed and entire new game off the concept of "surfing" in Source games.
You keep the original "feel" of surfing (the movement style and controls), but do something like drop in a "futuristic" environment like a strangely designed city and use that as the foundation for levels. Instead of players' animations awkwardly stuck in stand-stance, introduce something like suits that allow humans to wall-ride at super fast speeds, or give them rollerblade-esque footwear to justify being able to accelerate at such speeds and maneuver in the way they do.
Keep the multiplayer gamemode "surf" available for old Source players, but introduce new things like tricks, being able to flip or something of that sort every time you gain air. Keep in weaponry if you're killing off people while surfing.
This is the type of road this sort of gameplay needs to take. It shouldn't be forever awkwardly injected into a game where it doesn't belong other than due to movement code in CS, and stock Source code allowing for it.
[editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
It reminds me of people using Infiniminer to build which wasn't what it was designed for at all, and then Minecraft came along.
I must ask: why does it matter to you? Why do you feel the need to rant about something other people do in a game? Does it affect you? Nope, and I honestly had no idea someone could be so ignorant of video game communities, you're essentially saying "NO MODS ALLOWED THEY AREN'T PLAYING THE GAME THE RIGHT WAY :(:"

Oh shit, you're the guy that made surf_fruits? DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I SPENT TRYING TO PERFECT THAT MAP!? YOU RUINED MY LIFE.
Anyways, Surfing is one of my favorite CS pastimes. I just hope they have the command in on release and not patched in later.

You're awesome.
Im trying to switch to CSS surf, after Im done with my third tf2 surf map Im converting my other two maps to css and gonna stop with tf2 for a bit.
I've heard there's a shortage of maps in css surf, gonna try doing something about that.
There's plenty of CSS surf maps, less so in TF2.
Just tends to be a lot of the servers only use the popular ones.

God forbid you actually expand on gameplay people actually enjoy, to which you literally missed an example point I provided.

Don't really get why you're being a dick about it. I was talking about how you're glad you can no longer do it in cs:go. It's actually a good thing it exists in cs considering nobody has come up and made this surf game that should so obviously have been made.
You could easily have just left it at a cool idea you had for a surf game.
It makes me sad that there's actually people who hate on surf, it's a fun minigame to retreat from the seriousness of CS/TF2/whatever. Listening to ambient music and playing on surf maps is the chillest shit ever.
The reason I have the most time as Medic in TF2 is because it's the class I played every time on advanced surf maps.

What you are saying is to do away with an addition to a game, a mod, and that just simply makes no sense

Maybe a lack of it in CS:GO will motivate people into making an actual source mod.

Is there a difference between classes on surf? I always surf as engineer for absolutely no reason at all.

Different masses I thought. Somehow affects surfing.
I surf in tf2 as spy, I love bhopping around incredibly fast and backstabbing people.
Is there a difference between classes on surf? I always surf as engineer for absolutely no reason at all.
The only thing that will effect actual surfing is the pre-speed you get from running up, but that barely matters.
In deathmatch however, Spy is definitely fun.
I had no idea TF2 had surf.
I guess it's time to boot up the old girl
Engineer is just one of the best classes for surf because if you are playing kill-surf you can just set up a teleporter from spawn to the end and your whole team can go into the top of jail. You can also set up sentries at crucial points or at jail or at spawn and just be an overall dick with them. At least that is why I choose engi for surf.
Cloak & Dagger spy is especially fun when trying to take down nests of jailcamping sentries.

TF2 would have around 59 less maps if it weren't for Kelao converting most of the css maps to TF2.

From what I've seen in CSS surfing. There most certainly isn't a shortage of maps in general. But most of them are fucking awful, they either look ugly, or focus too much on combat, leaving the actual surfing part kind of pointless.
That seems to be quite a common theme in surf maps really, bad brushwork, lighting and texturing. With only a few of the maps actually looking quite nice, but them never being used as they are usually quite hard.
ksf adds all of the best new maps to their timer daily, it's pretty much the only place to go if you want good skill surf maps nowadays.
(ksfclan.com/forums has the ips)
they will be upgrading to csgo once it comes out and sm is working and shit :)
note: youll probably get alienated if you have never surfed before

Haven't heard from Kelao in a while, he did a lot of converting for the 1337surf clan I used to play on before it disbanded.
Isn't too shabby at surfing either.

Aren't KSF's servers based in America or am I thinking of another group? I'm not a big fan of surfing/bhop with high ping
