• How do you release your music?

hey guys, I'm just curious as to how most people around here go about releasing their music in places other than facepunch. I think it would be helpful to share what has worked/hasn't worked. Do you post anything you're working on(incomplete works) or are you highly selective about what you share? Do you use an alias when you release music or your real name? Do you have a blog, or do you just use your facebook account to share your music? I usually post works in progress, I use my real name, I've been posting music on my facebook, and I rarely get any comments/likes, people don't seem to care/notice tracks in their news feed. So how about you?
Always WIPS because I never fucking finish anything. I use my 'Nackhe' alias or 'Nostromos' I sometimes post on facebook, sometimes on here
ive become more selective about what i put out. I like to put out batches of songs etc at a time but recently I've become a part of a service where the main method of distribution is one song at a time so I'm going to be changing that. I use my online name or whatever i don't really use facebook, just bandcamp, soundcloud, and airborne
I post most things I've finished, well at least I used to, but now that I'm getting more and more interest in my music I've made sure to cut back on releasing every fart I record just because it's fun. Although I'm sure there are some people who enjoy the novelty of hearing a noise track out of a cough, it's more or less a dumb idea, I don't want to drive away people just because they listened to the wrong thing first. I was always into using an alias, but once I actually started with music I just resorted to using my full name. It seems there's a general view of aliases being pretentious lately, so I thought using my full name would be humble, but apparently that's pretentious too and now I don't give a fuck. The idea of releasing rare shit under an alias on a compilation or a sketchy free download sounds fun though, so I may try that in the future. Well actually there is some guy who wants me to release a few things on his site like that so I should soon. My bandcamp doubles as my official website (using a proper domain rather than ando.bandcamp), while I have a blog on watmm that acts as my official blog. My bandcamp is where I release music, and my youtube account is where I put up a track maybe once a week (among other terrible youtube poop-ish videos) for the people that like my music. As for sharing it, I'll occasionally put it up in this board, on watmm, on the ambient music subreddit and sometimes on my facebook. Lately too I have been putting my music up on services like grooveshark, which is pretty cool because I also noticed it's been finding videos for music I haven't released yet and putting it on my artist page.
I've only put the Cheesypoop stuff on here (I don't think I'll put it anywhere else) and shown it to some of my friends. I'll probably put my serious solo stuff here, on facebook and on sevenstring.org.
