I can't believe some of you resent one of God's most intriguing creatures on the planet. This brings me much sadness.
The world's largest Beetle, Goliath Beetle(Goliathus regius).

What you see on the picture is not fake, nor any kind mutation happen to the insect. This is a fully grown up male Goliath. They are totally harmless, yes they do no harm(but they could if they are in the season of mating they could possibly lay eggs inside your head).
And imagine this if you where driving your bike down the road and you don't wear a helmet and suddenly this fly into your head. If you where in a high speed on the bike maybe you would get some head injuries.
This kind of insect lives in rain forests only in Africa.
I have hold one of these before at a zoo. Its a great experience to hold such a magnificent creature and imagine there still could be bigger ones out in the jungle we never have discovered yet.
Haha they're actually called cockchafer beetles.
This is the variety Britain endures:

These things are a fucking menace.
They always appear when you least expect them, they're always fucking huge, and they're always fast as fuck.
I accidentally stepped on one bare-footed once. It was a life-scarring experience.
They usually pretty much explode when I shoot them.
What can you expect from a 300 FPS Air Soft Desert Eagle?
Aha.
Also, what the hell is the thing above me post, I'm oddly intrigued.
If you like colorful beetles then you haven't seen it all.

That creature is otherwise known as a "house centipede". They eat the glue that holds your carpet together.
The only insect problems we have around here is flies, but that's because we live right next to a corn field.
I don't know anything about Junebugs, but my grandparents get Japanese beetles.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dd/Popillia_japonica.jpg[/img_thumb]
He uses some bag traps and within a day, the whole thing is filled with those beetles. It's fucking disgusting and smells horrific.
Some of my friends that came across the border from Mexico said they used to stick these things in the freezer for a few minutes, then take them out and tie a string around their leg. Once they thaw out, you have a pet beetle you can take around with you.

That's not a beetle. Its a Scutigera Coleoptrata, a Centipede.
You shouldn't worry about those type of centipedes. There are far more bigger and poisonous centipedes in the jungle, which even can eat birds and mice.
That's a maybug
Depends on the region you are living in.

I walked into a room that had a swarm of these, lets just say it wasn't long until I got the bug bombs.
P.S. thisisspain, great thread music.
Anyone ever had to deal with these?

They may only live up north. They're called spruce beetles. Like junebugs, they're attracted to light, particularly spooky boreal forest campfires, and they enjoy digging their jaws into you, or get their scary-ass long antennas and legs tangled in your hair.
They usually pretty much explode when I shoot them.
That's a bit sadistic if you ask me. I can understand if people crush some bugs with their feet, but like shoot them or set them on fire is sadistic even if its a little meaningless life for you.
