People saying the US doesn't have culture ITT are handicapped. The US Has more culture within its borders than any country because it is a combination of so many cultures. You can easily find Chinese/Japanese/European/East European/Mexican/South American culture all within the borders of the US. The US also has its own generated culture of course, take the south for example. They have lots of fried foods and have a higher quantity of obese people. Perhaps not exactly the best culture to be part of in terms of health, but culture nonetheless.
Yeah.. you can find that in most countries. In my town I know of Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Eastern European, American and African people. Bound to be others I don't know.
If your heritage bops your bologna then cool, but doing things because everyone else did them for hundreds of years is stupid.

The US is barely 400 years old, so how the fuck can it have a larger culture and history than any other country? And just because the US has more immigrants and whatnot doesn't mean it has a richer culter in general, just a mixture of different cultures instead.
we can trace my family back 1000 years to the start of England, on my mother side I can trace back to someone who was a bastard child of a scottish queen who should have been air to the throne but she was the offspring from an affair and was just left at the gates of the castle. We have records of someone in our family serving on the cutty sark too, we know we also fought at the battle of Hastings and much much more. My family history is extremely British and goes back to the forging of this country and I love it
my sir name:
This is an Olde English pre 7th century tribal name. It derives from an English 'clan' known to have inhabited East Anglia and possibly Kent, in the period before the Norman Invasion of 1066, and known as the 'Illa'. These people are today commemorated in such places as Illington in Norfolk, first recorded as 'Illytone' in the year 952 a.d. and translating as the home (tun) of the Illa-ing (tribe).
Still live in kent to this day.
Im from Denmark. :denmark: When i talk to people from other places. im patriotic and proud as hell of my country.
But in general. its allmost frowned opon to be patriotic when with fellow Danes.
Even though i dont notice it much, i think culture plays a big part of my everyday life.
facepunch's general culture is denying the fact that they are part of a culture
Facepunch! is an Online Sub-culture! :eng101:
I'm English, Scottish, Irish, Polish, Latvian, German, Russian, Turkish (Ottoman, really, but from Anatolia so eh), and I've been told there's more beyond that.
Culture is a massively important part of human history, and I don't think any value could be placed on it. It's important to myself and others like me to explore the culture of my ancestors. Culture is anything from a system of beliefs on what is right and wrong (i.e. styles of government, crime, punishment, etc.) to the music, food, and style of a people.
I don't see how a country that has such behemoths as Hollywood, Broadway, The Statue of Liberty, the so called "hyper cities" (Chicago, New York, etc), and such a strong belief in their origins could be defined as culture-less. Every single thing you do is part of or directly influenced by your culture, even if it doesn't reflect the cultural histories of people before you.
One of the greatest things i have found in the culture here in Cornwall is the fact that a guy can buy another guy he doesn't know a drink, without them thinking they are being propositioned for buttsex. Drunken friendship ensues for the rest of the night.
Also just the fact that literally anyone will just walk up and start talking to you at any time, no matter where you are or what you are doing, and then from that moment on they act as if you are good friends. This could be more to do with the small communties Cornwall has as opposed to its culture, but even in a place as large as Truro you will find it still to be true.

I tried googling Cornwall and all I got was this.

Crap
Yeah, good idea.
my dads side is anglo-indian and I celebrate that by being hairy
Fuck most british people in my books
I value my Nordic heritage proudly.
I live in New Zealand, and, to put it bluntly, fuck Maori culture. I really don't like it and usually try to opt out of taking part in it.
I put about as much stock in being Australian as aborigionals.
That is to say I don't put very much in at all.
North Korea culture is best culture. Celebrate great leader and starve rest of day.
Music is culture
Music ftw
I value my Nordic heritage proudly.
I pretend to have significant Nordic heritage proudly.
But since my ancestors were Irish it's likely that I actually do.
Culture is one of the most irrelevant things out there. If you're German you can eat a taco if that's what you like. Culture is just a way to separate people into little groups that have no relevancy. The history of culture should and is maintained in books and online, but I don't think that people should put very much importance on it at all. You are who you are. Where you came from and what your ancestors were like have very little to do with who you are if you live somewhere else and are nullified to all individual cultures.
Culture =/= stagnation
Couldn't care less.
In fact, it annoys me if special things are done to protect it.

Why? Destroying "rival" cultures is one of the worst things humanity can do but I see nothing wrong with protecting your own.
In fact, it annoys me if special things are done to protect it.
Again, appreciating your own culture does not equal supporting its stagnation.

Mostly in the form of cheap restaurants that mimic each other's layered meals that are usually riddled with MSG and other food additives. The restaurants in question also blare shitty, synthesized noise over the radio and masquerade it as "ethnic music" despite being clearly inspired by American pop-trash.
I gotta admit, I do like sushi though.
I take pride in the fact that my ancestors were nazi vikings.

I still pray to Odin each time i'm going to plunder englands dental supplies.
Nationalism is so 19th century.
I like to keep up things like architectural design (I live in Kensington, got loads of nice old buildings here) but I hate our monarchy system which, to me, seems incredibly pointless and undermines our values as humanity in the 21st century.
When it comes to "Australian culture"... I live in the city. The only "Australian culture" in the city is drunken people yelling about sports in pubs.
Although I think my city is rapidly becoming more and more Asian (much to the disdain of many FPers, I'm sure).
[editline]11:29PM[/editline]
And when I say it is becoming more Asian I mean there is a larger amount of Asians in the city, more Asian shops and more weaboos.
[editline]11:31PM[/editline]
By the way, I am in no way a patriot. I think that Australia is in general a nice place to live but the politics in this country... Sweet jesus. You may think the governments in your countries are run by old men who are completely out of touch with the population but you haven't got shit on our politicians.
