I really hate british english. It's so hard for me to understand. English is my 3rd language but I can watch american movies fine, but if there is a british actor or british movie, I have to press myself to understand, unlike in american movies where I can just listen and understand.
Because Australians, Canadians, Scotts, Irish and others don't exist.
And neither do Indians. I mean, Indians who live in India.
Pissing in a sea of piss.
British talk weird.
I go from speaking English correctly to this beast: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_dialect_and_accent It usually happens after a few ales or when speaking to other Yorkshire folk.
Down tut pub, lol
The first one sounds incredibly retarded.
That's correct English, because none is singular and are is plural. so it has to become IS to be singular with none. What the fuck, I know right.
That's like asking what language is the correct and real one! When i was a kid i thought that my native language was the correct one!
I can type English pretty good, but you'd laugh if you heard how I pronounce most of the words :gonk:
I speak English properly, if I need to. I wouldn't start speaking the Queens English in front of my mates. Usually, if i'm hanging around with friends, i'll drop a few consonants and stuff, like us Brits tend to do. But if i'm at a family dinner party or somewhere I gotta be smart, i'll usually speak politely, and properly. But yeah, with the head stuff, no one really says " 'ead" unless you're a yankee Brit.
American English sounds more plain and standard so that one is more right.

English isn't my first language... I'd like to have a scottish accent, it sounds pretty slick IMO :'/ Also, since English is my second language (spanish being my first one), I tend to mimic perfectly american dialect... Some of this stuff also happens with the Spanish language. You'd think Spain = True spanish (dunno how many accents they have over there), but some accents found in some Central and South American countries sound better/cooler than European Spanish... IMHO accents on a language are like walking a dog with a different collar, it could look prettier or uglier but we all have the same dog. Just my $0,02
That's correct English, because none is singular and are is plural. so it has to become IS to be singular with none. What the fuck, I know right.
That makes no sense. You're talking about multiple seats, plural, so you should use "are" "None" is used to denote quantity, or in this case a lack of it. You're still talking about more than one seat, so you should still use "are".
proper lanky twang here.
Just about every language has this much, if not more, variation. Language constantly evolves. I can barely understand a word of Swiss German, and Cantonese is practically a different language than Mandarin, but they're still Chinese and quite legitimate.
Americans are like "Americuh" and brits are like "Americarrrr".
wat r u talkin about? i spk txt.
I agree, there's no true form of English. I'm one of the only people I know who speaks englis properly. I have a few quirks, like I don't say gar-ah-ge because it sounds weird to me, but I generally adhere to the queen's english while speaking. I'm also one of the only people I know who can actually fucking spell and use grammer properly. [editline]04:11PM[/editline] Oh yeah, this is a really informative and well put together comic on grammer and you should read it. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/apostrophe And here's another good one: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/misspelling
I say my THs and Hs, I don't think any country speaks their own language the right way.

[editline]1:54PM[/editline] Disregard that, started writing it, made me look like a massive fucking dweeb.
Language is a constantly fluctuating and evolving entity. What we know as 'correct' is riddled with inaccuracies in the eyes of our parents, and them same thing will happen to us with the next generation.

Ebonics is the right way.
Because Australians, Canadians, Scotts, Irish and others don't exist.
And what has happened to the Welsh then?
Unfortunately that's because a lot of us brits are uneducated because we don't listen in classes. It ashames me that more than 50% of brits can't actually read or write properly after they leave school. Anyway, I'm one of those who was a natural at reading and writing and it sometimes irritates people that I'm always correcting them.
I'd love to know where people pull these facts from, their ass most likely. Right, 50% of the 16+ population can't read and write properly, okay.
I'd love to know where people pull these facts from, their ass most likely. Right, 50% of the 16+ population can't read and write properly, okay.
32% can't write to be more precise. Other 18% can't do both. All other 50% are rather smart. And 100% of this was pulled out of my ass.
I'd love to know where people pull these facts from, their ass most likely. Right, 50% of the 16+ population can't read and write properly, okay.
He could be exaggerating, but there are a bunch of people who leave school still unable to read and write properly. In fact, according to this article around half of schoolchildren (at least in London) leave school with a below standard ability to read, write and do maths. They still can, just not as well as employers and such would like (which is at least a C grade, apparently).
