After shocks are usually smaller than the initial quake though, these are all large earthquakes. Earthquakes this size only happen about 18 times a year, and 8.0mag happen about once per year. I just find it odd that three happen so close to each other in such short time. I'm not saying it's the end of the world.
well to be technical all of the aftershocks were smaller then the first quake. But yes, these aftershocks are unusually high.

Where I live we are supposed to get the largest earthquake in the world. Because of what happened in 2005. Followed by Mount Baker erupting. Oh lord. Swine Flu Global Warming Earthquakes. :ohdear:
Hang on i'll pull some strings and find out what's happening [editline]03:29AM[/editline] Japan's trying to make all the Australian relief services head to the south pacific to help those affected. In the next week, Japan will strike Australia and kill millions of innocent civilians.
A fat kid just collapsed halfway across the world. No need to worry about anything.
The planet is still shaking from when Gabe landed in Australia
It's all pretty damn normal for this region. Volcanoes are earthquake monsters, and so are tectonic plate boundaries. When those two things are within close proximity, you get a pretty active quake area (especially when those volcanoes are in clusters).
China's getting owned. :O Not really south pacific, but still. >_>
The stars have aligned, Cthulhu is rising from his stone vault in the underground city of R'lyeh.

They did not cause a small tsunami. I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and there was NO WAVE! they called the tsunami warning off. It was interesting because i have felt the plates slip both times. I cant say i felt the actual earthquake, but both times i remember asking myself "did the floor just wiggle?" And both times i felt that, shortly after there was an earthquake.
Ring o' fire biach.
