Crossroads of my future - Advice would be appreciated

Is that remotely close to a general engineering first year course? or will it vary with universities greatly?

I'm good at math for the most part, I'm not too concerned about the math part of engineering.

Monash calls it the general first year. After that you must choose one branch to specialise in.

I made the mistake of picking something with computers just so that i'd be comfortable with it.
Turns out i didn't like it and now i am sitting at home without education for a full year.

But! I needed this time to figure out what i really wanted. I am now going to study Japanese language, culture and business starting september.

You seem to know what you might like. A couple months back i had no clue at all. Nothing. It sucked.
Consider yourself lucky with the choices you gave yourself.
I've heard many positive things about science, but[U] it only really works if you enjoy doing. Like any other job.[/U]
