My university offers a special first year where you do a subject from each Eng field so you can work out which you like, and in the end I went with Electrical, and later transferred to Mecahtronics (for those that don't know, it's basically a mix of mechanical, electrical, and computer systems).
Is that remotely close to a general engineering first year course? or will it vary with universities greatly? @taipan I'm good at math for the most part, I'm not too concerned about the math part of engineering. On a side note, anyone else else coming to this by any chance? http://www.gamedesignexpo.com/
I am trying to graduate in mechanical engineering (minor mechatronics) in the university of Brisbane or Sydney. You happen to go to any of those?
Nah, I go to Monash University.
Is that remotely close to a general engineering first year course? or will it vary with universities greatly?
Monash calls it the general first year. After that you must choose one branch to specialise in.
I made the mistake of picking something with computers just so that i'd be comfortable with it. Turns out i didn't like it and now i am sitting at home without education for a full year. But! I needed this time to figure out what i really wanted. I am now going to study Japanese language, culture and business starting september. You seem to know what you might like. A couple months back i had no clue at all. Nothing. It sucked. Consider yourself lucky with the choices you gave yourself. I've heard many positive things about science, but it only really works if you enjoy doing. Like any other job.
Come to McMaster University for engineering, you can chill with me! :)
